Well tomorrow is the day that Renee(my dsm) goes to her new owner. Who is going to baby her much more than I did and not mod her any further than I did. I sold her with all her mods that were on there. I still have my 16g though ;).

I am going to miss my gst but I am going this weekend to probably pick up a 90 gsx that doesn't work. So I'm going to fix it and make it work. I will also have the upper half of an engine on the way soon(hopefully ;) ) SO no worries.

What do you guys think I should do with this engine, rebuild wise? I have about a thousand to spend on it maybe more. What should I do before I put it back in the car. I'm talking the engine itself not fuel or any of that crap. Idea's?


Side note:
The car I am looking at has the awd body, engine tranny, drivetrain and what not. But all the windows and interior have been removed, and no seats or what not. And the car was sanded to be painted. What in fairness do you think I should offer him. It's a 90 gsx, with prolly a 100k+ miles. He is sending me pictures once he does I'll post them here too. Ohh also he says there is quite a bit of money invested in the car itself, like the suspension and breaks have about 3k in them. I don't know how but I think someone was going to make this a rally car or some shit.

Hmmmm I have a few :D. Looking at internals has basically been my life for the last month or so since Mike blew his POS. The stock internals can take quite a bit of power, so unless your plans excede ~450 hp, I would just do a stock rebuild on the bottom end. $500 from sbr, pretty complete kit thats what Mikes POS and my project car will get if the one I get doesnt run. I would then replace the valves with ferrea ss vavles ($200 on eBay), and a TI retainer/dual spring kit from SBR for ~$250. Then you have $50 for alcohol which you will want after the install ;). As soon as you get more money, you could go for some new lifters and some cams. Mmmmmmm.

I am doing stock 6 bolt bottom end, with O-ring and SCE copper gasket for sealing. Ported head, throttle body, blah blah blah. Probably methanol injection, and some other things. Doing it all myself to save moolah. (it is nice to have a friend with a machine shop and a flow bench :D ) I would put most of your money in the head/cams if I were you. :2cents:

It sounds like that car has been stripped within an inch of its life! I wouldn't give more than $800-1000 for it. No, thats probably too much. No glass or interior = $$$$$$$ Wooptedo about the suspension/brakes, I think that guys gonna try to screw you if you let him.

Ohh I agree whole heartedly. He want's 950 for the car, I think I am going to offer him 400 and go no higher than 500. Especially since I am going to have to scour junk yards for parts to rebuild some of the interior.

Hey man, If you cant find interior part you want for your gsx, let me know I knew alot of junkyard around here have a first gen part, even the whole car later.

I don't want all the interior. Mostly just the center console and maybe some seats until I can afford better ones.

That's not the point I was trying to make. Some people get wild hairs and want to make a track car. They then proceed to strip/trash the car with good intentions, but sooner or later they get tired of the project. Important things get done half-assed (the brakes/suspension that were mentioned) just to make the car sell-able. Then someone else buys the half-assed no-glassed POS also with good intentions of making a track car, only to find the car is so furked up that it isn't worth the cost of hauling it off.
