Ihave a 1997 Olds. 88 and remote number #25678792,
The instructions I received Said to use a jumper between 4 & 8 on the OBDII Port. But it also said I should have metal contact pins in these terminals. I dont have any for pin #8. Did I get the right instructions?

If you dont have a pin in 8, try to connect pin 4 to any ground point on the vehicle.
