ok guys , i have a 1990 civic dx in the shop right now an im contemplating wether to put a b16 or a b18 into it now if i go with the b-18 im going to put the b 16 vtec head on it, but this was an idea i heard about ..called the frankenstine, is it? but i don't no im thinking which one would be easier i no the b 18 an b16 is a tough one btu would the b16 fit in without engine mounts needed an if not wut other dohc engine could i fit in it?...this is my frist project an im working with an machanic that is used to the older mucle cars an fixing newer ones but not a complete rebuild right now w're starting on the suicide doors an body widening kit then the engine then paint so im jus wondering wether to use the b-16 full or b18 with b-16 head an so on.. thanks guys any input would help!

Both B16 and B18 require mounts into a 4th gen civic or crx. Frankenstein or LS/VTEC requires machining and custom fabrication to get it to work... not to mention tuning. You can "SEARCH" these topics and read about it forever.

thanks alot for that info in ur opinion wut engine should i put in my dx i'm just looking for a powerfull engine that'll really move i've got a turbo an i will be gettin different things for hp improvment i've got my ideas for the look an eny way i want it i got it i've done some extencive construction work for a mechanic an for pay he's doing my car.....but i need soem engine ideas ...wut would fit but with max power an a strong enough block to hold a turbo an futrue mods!! thanks again

If your wanting to do turbo.. i recommend just getting a b18a/b.. fairly low compression motor that seems to take boost with no problem.. if your deiciding to do turbo ls/vtec which is the route ive taken.. its gonna involve alot of tuning and aftermarket internals if u plan on running high boost.. its been whole in my pcoket with this build up but will be pretty wicked.. and yeah u will need some custom mounts.. theres a few different mounts ranging from ebay cheapies to hasport billets.. like $200 to $500.. oh yeah and if u havent done the dpfi to mpfi.. maybe u oughta look into that first "mpfi conversion" b18a/b stock internals..open differential, fuel/spark mgmnt, and u can see 12's if tuned right:iceslolan
