I have a civic hatch 1994 sir2 import b16a dohc

Starts and idles fine, when driving it feels like it has no power and when i press the gas it just doesnt go like it used to even in vtec it does not pull as hard.

I have checked timing compression and valves and all are bang on.

I have changed cap, rotor, plugs, leads, air filter, fuel filter, oil, run injector cleaner and still it does it?

Has anybody got an idea what could be causing this

the engine has only done 45k miles.

I have checked each plug for spark and its all ok.

it seems to do it more when warmed up also.

would a bad dizzy cause this? but surely it would not start or idle so smooth.

also fuel pressure? i ordered a gause to check (what is normal fuel pressure at idle?)

Pleas help:rolleyes:

Catalytic converter? Or blockage in exhaust???

It could be the thermostat. Just check to make sure your temp. gauge is working fine to test it. It could also be a spun bearing. that's what happened to my last car.

Hello Mate,

Have the same problem with my 94 SIR! When i floor it the power drops and bogs down.

I took mine to a rolling road and it turned out that the mixture was running completely lean!

Got it booked into Honda to check the sensors etc.

Try checking the 02 sensor as a few people have told me this

Hope it helps, will post and let you know what my prob is!

Surely if it was a map sensor it would throw a code?

Mine ain't :banghead:

just because a code is not being thrown doesnt mean its not the map sensor. the ecu has to catch the code in order to show it. see when there is something wrong with anything that could throw a code the ecu its self must identify it and then saves the code in its memory. from therethen u are able to check the code. but dont forget, after the problem if fixed the ecu needs to be reset to read the car fine. theres two ways of doing this,
1. disconnect the batter for a couple of min.
2. well i know on 92-95 civics there a plug with 2 wires that sits under the glove compartment. bridge the 2 wires together to connect the curcuite. this turns ur engine light on. the engine light needs to stay on. if id doesnt then cont the flshes. and ull find out whats wrong. by the engine staying on it wipes the ecus memory. so the ecu doesnt think that the problem is still there. beleave it or not the car a little smoother after this is done.

if ur like me, u can tell exactly how much power ur engine has and can tell when a little is missing... if ur one of these peoplethen ull see the difference in my performance with this information.
