Startup Problem

Helping buddy with his 1998 F-150 4x4 4.6. When he sometimes start truck it will not stay idleing. The check engine light is Not on. It only does it sometimes.He has to keep foot on gas to keep it running. When driving it seems not to mis or anything. Just wondering if anybody has had same problem. Thanks:banghead:

Check the idle speed motor. They are bad about gumming up and causing this problem.

I just went through the same thing.. it was the idle air control motor it cost me $35...

idle speed motor, Idle control switch, or idle air.. check them all.
