My girl Friend has been having some problems with her 96 Monte it started missing and studdering we went to autozone and they said there was a missfire on cylinder 2 so we changed the plugs and wires this did not fix the problem so I tapped on the #2 injector and the car smothed right up and ran fine for about 3 more weeks and the same thing happened so she took it to a repair shop and they changed the #2 injector which was around $600 after labor think she got ripped off on that deal but anyway now it is back to doing the smae thing but it says it is a missfire on cylinder #1 this time any ideas on what is making this happen or anything we can do to prevent that problem from happening. thanks

I do know that there is a problem with the fuel injectors on 1996 monte carlo's, That might be the problem. My car was doing the same thing and what I did was put in a bottle of dry gas and it cleared everything right up. There is another common problem with 96's and that is that the head gaskets were getting worn out. I would try the dry gas if that don't work most likely you will have to change the fuel injector. Have them check the head gasket while they are at it. Hope that helps. Check out this link it might help also

Run a bottle of Seafoam or Chevron Techron thru the tank when 1/2 full, bTW the intake manifold gasket is more of a problem than the head gasket, but that would cause a coolant loss.
