My 2003 Suburban (61,000 miles) has just started this habit. The first time my gas gauge was showing about an 1/8 of a tank and it would not start (lo fuel light never came on). About a month later (last week) the gas gauge showed slightly less than a 1/4 and the same thing happened!!! :banghead: I can put a couple of gallons in it and it starts right up!!! What is happening??? At this rate it will not start when it's showing "full" in a few more months. When I fill it up with the gauge showing 1/4 (I am afraid to let it go down lower) it takes about the right amount of gas for a 31 gallon tank...so the gauge seems to be reading correctly at that level. Anyone have any clues as to what happening here?? :screwy: My friend with a 2002 is having identical problems.

My 2000 was recalled to fix some type of wire problem on the top of the tank.
Wonder if yours has a problem like mine was suppose to of had. I do not remember all of the details of the recall.
Sounds like a gauge or sending unit adjustment problem.
Remember, I know nothing and can prove it...
BTW, I was told to keep over 1/4 tank for cooling of the fuel pump.
Best of Luck

My 01 did the same thing. One day it wouldn't start with about 1/4 of a tank of gas. This happened about 3 weeks after I had the fuel pump electrical recall done by a dealer. I ended up replacing the fuel pump to the tune of almost $800. The pump module itself cost $440 at the dealer. My truck has less than 80k miles. And they wonder why people are buying foreign cars. In the old days replacing a fuel pump at 75k miles would not have been unusual, but the pumps only cost $20. If Chevy wants to use $400 fuel pumps, they ought to make the things last.:nono:
