I wanna get these really cool dual side exit exhaust for my camaro but I'm in the process of replacing the springs and I just found a pair of rears for 30bucks(Eibach Pro) but would it be smarter to get stock springs if I have that exhaust or should I be able to tuck it in enough?

Well with the side exit exhaust it will depend on what year your 3rd gen is. Like if its one of the earlier models without the body kit on it, it will be fine even with the lowering springs, but if its like a 90-92, the side skirts and all were like bigger than the past body kits, so you'd have to like cut a hole in the side skirts to make it fit (And it would look way better) Ofcourse you could get them to fit but the clearance would be horrible unless you get the thin slits tail pipes.

Someone else told me to cut a hole in the effects too, I was gonna get the dualpipe tips. It's the 87 Iroc-Z effects, about the same as 90-92 but no vents, remember? :evillol:

damn I really need some signatures so people will remember me

Well then cut holes into the side skirts, and make sure you do it correctly.. so measuring is a must.

.......what would cutting into the ground effects do? they dont go low enough to need to cut into them.....dont cut them dude.....i mean do what you want.....but i say dont cut them. If you do it right and dont get crazy with the size of the tips they will fit even with the pro kit. Buy my 4th gen tips and they will fit fine. They would look pretty sweet out the sides too.

Since the sideskirts dont hit the ground, cutting a hole into the side skirts and then having the pipes come out through the side skirt would thus not have them scrape the ground if he goes over like a bump. Also he noted that he's going to lower it because he asked if it would be better to keep the stock height

impossible, you can't fit an entire 3 inch pipe through our ground effects... if you look to see where they attach to, there is body there, they don't extend but MAYBE and inch and a half below the lowest part of the body... if you tried to put the entire exit within the ground effects you would also have to cut the body, which is not good. plus having it inside runs the risk of maybe cooking the plastic... the point of scraping wouldn't be on the sides anyway... it would be underneath the car that it would, and unless you want to beat up the floor pan, if not then you can't do anything about that... you can't have the exhaust right up against the floor either, there needs to be some space... running exhaust underneath like that will greatly increase the chance of scrapping... there aint much you can do about it... we have low cars... if you use any pipe larger than 2 and a half you will have real issues... if you want it to look clean then maybe you can trim the bottom edge of the effects in like a half circle shape and bring up the exhaust so the top part fits into the effects... that would be possible i suppose. you'll still have scrapping issues underneath the car however...

Actually now that I remember, the cross eyed man is right. Our side skirts dont come down much from the body.

run dual 2.5" pipes. That will breath just fine for your motor and it should fit under your car. ........then you can buy my tips..... :)

One speed bump or low approach and bye bye exhaust...
my 4th gen bottoms out just with long tubes.... I can't imagine what it would be like with pipes that low... It would look good but Functionaly I don't think it would work...

i forget which magazine did it, but i've read about a flow test difference between dual 2 and a half, and single 3... they flow numbers were nearly identical... a single 3 in exhaust (like mine) doesn't really have any disadvantage to someone who ran true dual 2 and a half

Yeah but having true dual is way cooler than not..

BINGO!... plus its cheaper, easier and clearance wise is fine.

yes but the whole problem is under the frt subframe and drivers side floor....that hump in the pass side floor is there for the stock cat., without that a lowered car would be near impossiable. Regardless you want to run mufflers no matter if its a turn down (under the car) or a side exit the mufflers wont fit under the car in a lowered 3rd gen.

:naughty: So would someone help me out? I want to get my camaro ready for Camaro Superfest of 06 here in Michigan and I think the whole side pipe exhaust idea would really stand out. I wouldn't do the work myself; but probibly go to someone my boyfriend knows who could do it for a good deal. ANYWAY... I just bought my 2nd third generation camaro. It's an 88 sport coupe with a v6. yeh pathetic I know. Hopefully I can have a 305 or 350 in it before the show. It seems a little lower than my 90, but I was wondering if they would fit on my 88. SECOND, does anyone have a picture of a 3rd gen with side pipes?

and another question. What i'm picturing with the side exhaust is not just the pipe sticking out, the whole setup from behind the front tires out to the back tires. sorry im not to technical on my terms. I don't have a pic; but my unkle had (had) the side pipes like that on his 79 trans am.

Ive seen a true dual setup that actually worked didnt bottom out..........although the mufflers are after the axel, but dual piping all the way through.
