What to do with (new) older model parts

I am cleaning out my grandpa's garage, who was a mechanic for 50 yrs or so, and I have tons of older car parts - all new in boxes. Does anyone know who would buy these from me? I've checked a couple of salvage yards but they only buy entire cars. The majority of the parts are smaller parts like gasket sets and electrical parts, but I also have a Olds 4 jet carb; factory new, a couple of starters and alternators, several solenoid switches, clutch cover plate, etc... some are remanufactured parts but have not been used and they are mostly for older american cars and trucks. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

If you want to sell it all as one lot and not piece by piece then I would talk to your local auto parts store, not autozone or pepboys, but a locally owned mom and pop store. They may by the whole lot from you. If you have the time to sell it one piece at a time I would use ebay. Even with the listing and selling fees you will get top dollar for your parts on ebay. Especially when you are selling one of a kind items with not a lot of potential buyers (like you have), ebay is the way to go.

A couple of other options would be to place ads in Hemmings Motor News, or sell the parts at local car shows that feature flea markets. You have a potential gold mine in that a lot of parts for older cars are in demand and the supply is rather small. Many old car hobbyists and enthusiasts peruse eBAY and magazines such as Hemmings, and visit car shows in search of parts for their vehicles.

I had thought of putting the parts on ebay, but the problem is that I don't know the exact years/makes/models the parts are for. I have tried to look some of the better parts up by the model #'s on the boxes, but I have not had any luck. I can't find any parts locator that will let me search by part # rather than by make and model of car.

So, if anyone can tell me where to look for this info, that would be great.

well you need to know the dealer, then they can look up numbers, look for the paarts to say something like mopar (dodge) motocraft (ford) ACDelco (chevy) then call and ask for the part number to be looked up and see if its superseeded to something else

I would suggest listing the items on Ebay, you'll probably get your best value out of the parts. I work in an autoparts store and I will be willing to help you out finding what parts fit what applications. Simply list a part number, brand, and description on here and i'll see what I can do. If some of the parts are pretty old and in original containers, they might be of great value for collector cars. So list some part numbers and I'll see what I can do.

Well, I have a remanufactured starter, the part # on it is 1108430, (there is also another # - 2E247 on it), and the # on the solenoid that is attached to it is 1114344.

there is a reman. alternator #1102480 - 12V, 61A. Also on the alternator is the # 7127; 10-SI type

another reman. alternator #1100670; 32

A reman. starter, the part # on it is AF11131

also there is a clutch cover assembly new in box, but the only # I could find was on the box, which is a "Precision" box (as are most of the parts, I assume precision was a reseller). the # is 292. I couldn't find any other #'s on the part itself.

Forgot the carburator - it's a factory new delco rochester 4 jet carb, # 7040564. I know that it is for an oldsmobile, I think 1970's. I did get a price quote from a auto parts dealer of $400 new or $300 reman. Maybe you could check if that is accurate? Thanks again.
