Starion vs. Some wierd TRD

This past weekend my boy Gotian came over to my abode and helped me get the starion running back up again.
we cranked her up and she was running nice for a few minutes then started sputtering. I figured it was the fuel. so today I drop some fuel injector cleaner and crank her up to go for a drive. I need to drive her more often now to get all the stuff broken in for the rebuilt.

I get to a light and this dude in a gold toyota pulls up next to me. the car had soooo much shit on it that I could not tell what it was. it had celica lights, supra tails, a CF hood, three different body kits molded into one, wide body panels, it was just wierd. only reason I know it was a toyota was cause it said TRD everywhere. on the fender, on the windows,on the trunk, everywhere TRD TRD TRD.
I lower my window and ask "hey bro what kinda car is that?"

the dude looked pissed, that honda bit pissed him off so when the light goes green he jumps on it and Im like oh shit hes actually going for it.
I drop it into 1st and hes already off the line and I cant launch this car worth a crap cause Im still not used to it plus its acting up a bit but non the less the dif catches and Im off. I rev up to like 4000rpms and the tranny starts to shake (bad input shaft bearing) no prob I manage to match him. we both shift into 2nd and I start to pull on him as the boost guage climbs. I shift again at 4000rpms and the loud PFFFFTTT sound scares the shit out of him Im a half car ahead now. he litterly looks over with this astound face like OHHH SHIIIT! 3rd is in better shape so the boost comes on and I pull a full car and this guiy is just going nuts again the BOV wistles back at him and I get to 80mph and shut her down. the guy was about two cars back and just smaking his steering wheel like in a rage or something. I turned a right and headed home.
I cant wait to finish that car!
oh and I still have no clue what the hell I raced!

that idiot probrably had no idea what a starion is. beautiful cars for its time btw. only problem i have with them is that they're TBI.

when you said celica lights, you mean the round ones or the 2000+ headlights? and when you said supra tails, you mean the tail lights or the supra wing? did it have an old body style look to it or a new body style look? did the body look like a supra? because 6th gen celicas is a replica of the supra. the car redlines at 6k and boost kicks in at about 2.5, if he goes over 4k the transmission starts shaking so he getting a new tranny

deppends on the year really. the 86 is a low 16 the 89 where high to mid 15s.

Rice(er), its none of those. This guy had either a new Corrolla S or a Cammary of some sort cause it was 4-door. he had the round cellica lights, the supra tail lights, a CF hood, a CF gt wing, wide body with a front bumper that did not match. It was butt ugly.

Burnerdominator, what car do you have now? Actually dude if you wanna learn about Starions your gonna need to talk to my wife. Charlynne is the expert on the Starquests. I just fork the cash and turn the wrench but she is the one that does all the research and finds out the stuff we need to know for the project. I tried but I had no luck and no one would help, Char started making connections left and right and next thing I know shes getting me data sheets and blueprints and the service tech manual. Shes just amazing with that. so yea son talk to her. her screen name is "ishtar X".

yeah the MPI would make a big difference in that car, but don't people somehow swap in 4G63's into those cars? when some guy came to the shop with one of them, i was asking about that car and thats what he said, don't know how possible it is, but if people can put 3SGTE's in a AE86, then might be able to do that with a 4G63 also.

what is the redline on those things? i remember it being like 6K casue it has a massive 2.6 liter 4 banger. and people thought i had a big 4 cylinder truck engine in my car.

my boss knew someone that had a 2JZ swapped into a AE86, however the format of the engines are similar. they both are mounted longitutionaly, so its all a matter of how much space you have in an engine bay. but a 3SGTE is different. that engine sits transversly or sideways in the engine bay. all the tranny's are trans axles, not rwd style trannys. thats is what makes it hard cause you need to make custom adapters to fit some kind of rwd tranny onto the 3SGTE.

now for the case with the 4G63, mitsubishi hasn't made a RWD coupe since the conquest/starion twins, so finding a tranny that would fit a sideways engine would be tough, however maybe the tranny in the conquest/starion fits fine as long as you have some kind of adapater for it. *shrug * somebody educate me on this.

WHAT? no dude where the heck did you hear that? the Starion was fine tunned by the Mitsubishi Australia division in 85-86 to run the Paris Dakkar (which it won) but it never got a 4G63. All Starquests have G54Bs in them .
The 4G63 swap is easy as balls. Actually there is a thread on how to do it step by step somewhere in starquestclub.com
The engine dossent go sideways like in the Evo/DSM. it goes verticall and the tranny tuks under the firewall so its still RWD. theres a Starion running 8 second 1/4 miles with a 4G63 so you ca imagine how many people go for that swap. I like the G54B plus it much more cost effective.
But you can drop a SR20DET, RB25 and RB26, 2JZ, 6G72 (from the VR-4) hell theres a dude who dropped a Ford V8 from a Cobra with supercharger and everything. he had to cut the firewall and the front frame to fit it, then had to cut the hood for the SC to fit.
There badass cars with a long record of compettition victories.

EDIT: I was looking for a pic of the Buschar Performance Starion that ran 8 seconds to show you guys what a 4G63 Starion can do but instead I found this. Its a tunned Starion using the G54B (original engine) racing a Turboed mustang. I think this is the same mustang that ran the Hyabusa on the highway and beat it on Streetfire cause his name was Boostang just like this dude.

If you look closely in the background when those two cars take off you can see the sun starting to rise but as they take off the sun sinks back down. They took off so hard that they spun the earth backwards a it and made it dark again! :icon16:

yeah I saw it. ok he is full of crap, first off the only Starion we did not get her (or in Aus) was the AWD VR-4 Starion. all Starions had G54Bs in them and no there is no SOHC 4G63. the G54B is however SOHC so probably made a mistake on the engine code.
here bro check out this link to Starquest, it has all the info and specs on all years made. as you can see no 4G63 code anywhere.
