My civic is making some noise around the engine area, and i took it to the shop but the guy cant tell what it is.
It happen about 1500rpm and 2800rpm, sound like something is draging under the car or maybe rtaidding? nosie. and the noise is coming somewhere close to the engine. i would say somewhere close to the bottom of the engine.
I listen to byself but i cannot tell where is that coming from.
Since there is some rast on the exhuast manifold maybe that is, but not sure. Also the guy in the shop said maybe one of the bearing is goinig out.
Oh one more thing, the noise come on when my car is not moving, so i dont think it is from driving either. also i can hear the noise when i let my gas paddle off too
If anyone could give me some suggestion or whats the usual problem with civic so i can look into it. please
i'm in carmel CA area if anyone who is close and would love to have them check it out. Cus it is alot better to hear it than write here.
my aim is leung19 thanks

It could very well be your exhaust heat sheild is loose. My car was making the same noise like you described. Despite what some people may say, you dont really need a heat sheild, a shop can remove your heat sheild for about $5 easy.

You maybe right, cus i cannot tell where is that nosie coming from. When does ur noise come up? in diff rpm like mind? where is the exhaust heat sheild? inside theexhuast manifold cover?
What does it do?

I heard it mostly during accelleration and when slowing down. (it was about 2 years ago, i dont really remember it that well). The heat sheild is directly underneath your engine, right between your oil pan & transmission.

it is a easy fix? my buddy told me that it is riveted in and i can either rip it off or re-rivet it.
it is easy to get to?
