What I'm looking to do is....

I want my wheels to stick out from the side of the truck (just a little) but I don't know what type of wheels to get. I have seen a couple of trucks running around like this and it really looking sharp. I know I will have to have a set of offset wheels but I don't know what.

So my question is......

Do any of you know what it is that I'm looking for? Maybe you have this on yours... Could you post a pic and let me know what type and where you found them?

Thanks:licka:

Looks stupid. Not street legal.

Why isn't it street legal?

I don't think it looks stupid either, if they stick out just a little with the right set of tires and rims I think it looks really good.

:iagree:
It's illegal because your tires throw road rash up in the air.

And, it's quite ugly not having the correct offset.

You could legally do it if you used Jeep style fender flares that cover the tires, but I agree it looks stupid.
Plus it'll put unusual strain on all the front end parts, and might just brake something.

There are 2 ways to do such a mod. And there is no right way.
Yhe first way is buy a set of wheels with the offset that you want.
For the second way you'll have to PM me, and I'll think about giving you the answer. This is because I don't like the idea at all, even though you can buy the professionally made parts from some parts stores.

Aren't you glad you posted this question?

And yes I think it looks stupid too!

Now that you've heard our opinion If you still want to do it go right ahead, it's your truck, your money, and you licence.

The only safe way is buy the wheels that you want with the offset that you want. I won't tell you the other method. Do yourself a favor and install those Jeep style fender flares.

It'll wear out your front end quickly, but like I said it's your money. Just pull off the road when it starts handling bad (if the cops don't pull you over first)

I seem to remember a trend where several young people did just that to honda's in the early 90's. It didn't last long.

Since it's really all your choice I hope that everyone will respect your decision, and leave it alone. I know that I will

stupid, overboard they also have to have mudd flaps :)

Well that isn't up to us, it's his Blazer and money.

Where I live very few Jeeps or raised trucks have mud flaps, and they aren't required here.
So the mud flap part depends upon where you live.
I don't think that they would care about it with a otherwise stock 2wd

The most important thing here is that he pulls over when his Blazer starts handling weird

Tire rims have a offset dimension form the back of the rim to where they mount to the hub. You have to find out your offset for your rims then find a set with less offset.

Hey guys

He just asked the question. Thats what the message board is for. People that want to ask questions. No need to flame him for it.

I know here in Canada you would not get off the end of your street with tires that protrude past the fenders. However I have seen some trucks with smaller flares on them to cover the edges of the tires.

I am pretty sure the offset you are looking for is positive. meaning that you push the tire away from the centerline of the vehicle. The Negative offset does the oppisite, It moves the tire closer to the centerline of the vehicle.

I personally don't think it would exactly help your front end strain, I find my blazer is bad enough on front end parts now. I can just imagine what the extra strain would do to it.

I am running 31 inch tires with a 1/2 inch positive offset and a 3 inch body lift. Its not really enought to notice if you look at it alone however if you park next to another blazer you notice my front hood line is baout 4 inches above a stock truck. Suits me just fine. Little bit more aggressive look and stance but does not stick out enough where someone would want to steal it.

My last truck I went a bit to far with it and yes, it got stolen.

Another good point to having a slightly modified/lifted truck. I got into an accident 3 weeks ago in a mall parking lot. I got rearended by a 2005 Jag 4Dr. Total spent on repairs to date on my truck my insurance company just paid the bill of a little under $3000. The Jag - a total write off. If it was at factory hight and hit by the same car mine would have been a write off as well because he would have come through the rear gate.

I would be happy to just have my backs tracking as wide as the fronts. I want to do it with wheel spacers, but can someone post a lonk to some spacers to buy. I think that 1" or less will do the trick for me plus some axle studs.

For most of you....

I never asked what you thought about the looks... ITS MY TRUCK....

What asses some of you are... I'm not talking about have the tires hangin over the yellow and white lines of the road I'm only looking for maybe an inch or something... I have 30 x 10.5 15 on there now and just want a liitle width to the truck.... So for all of you can't have any pos. respones or helpful info.........Piss off.....

For the others that helped....

Thanks for the useful info.. I guess I will have to do a little more thinking befor I spend a grand on wheels.... Thanks again...

Before you sped a grand look into the auto wrecks for the proper wheels.

If you can't find any ask your local parts store about Wheel Spacers.

I really don't like the idea of spacers. They're just something else that might somehow go wrong. Plus it'll take away that deep dish wheel effect.

What I would do if I was you is buy some wide wheels, with wide tires on. Say 8" wide wheels with 8" wide tires up front, and 10" wide out back.
Then if nessary make a set of fender flares up king of like those that you see on some of the newer Nissan trucks. They both look mean, and are functional. (Just learn how to work with fiberglass to make them)
Plus if you still have the same amount of tire on the inside it shouldn't strain your front end as much.

You'll want the tires to all be the same diameter with this setup, but the width can be different.
Different diameter wheels mess with the ABS system, and who know's what else.

If you go with this idea it should look good, and I would then want to see pictures.

get hub adaptors not spacers, hub adaptors go on your offset and then you can buy any wheel that you want with any offset (such as an s 10 is 5x4.75, and others are smaller and larger stud difference, that can be put in the hub) but so much as a half an inch raises hell on every thing from wheel bearings to steering linkage, best bet (although it still plays hell on suspention parts, messes up the scrub angle, and you need alignment afterwords) is an 8 or 8.5 wide tire (235 to 255 on the first number, ie 255/xx/xx), other then that most places are a 1/4'' or less stick out for legallity issues because of road debri

I want to do the same. I like the ldea of having a inch more of footing if ya have a lift. Wider is better.............sometimes lol but post when you get it figured out i am intrested in doing the same.

And in British Columbia Canada its illegal to have the tires sticking out more the two inches without flares. It also kinda depends on if the tires are throwing up rocks and stuff. Then a mud flap is required. Mounties dont like the windows blown out :)

I think most gm's trucks have a narrower track in the rear than in the front. I do not need any more width and do not want to change wheels, but just want my rears lined up with the fronts.

My blazer has 'glass running boards from front to back and it looks kinda kooky with the rear being so narrow.

I think original poster was niot talking about sticking the whel clear outside the wheelwells, I certainly am not as mine have a few inches each side . I also wonder how mine would look like with a lift kit along with these running boards?

Overboard....

I don't like the idea of spacers either... But The wider wheels is what I had really intented to do. If fact that was what I was aimin for when I bought the tires that I have now. I love the tire I have they just give the look I want. I'm going to look at the different size tire of the All Terrain tires that BF goodrich carries. Maybe I'll sell the ones that I have and get new wheels and tires to make the look....

Thanks everyone for the info...:)

I wish that I had a pic of the tires and wheels that I got for my rod.
They're old school, and would probably be close to what you want. But they're an 8 hour drive from here.

They're not quite what I want for my rod, so I'd consider selling them to the right person.
