Hey i love cars and want to be a mechanic but unfortunately have no one to teach me since my dad split when i was like 6 and me friends are retarded so all i know is what ive taught myself by screwing around....heh which brings me here with questions....my mom couldnt by me a car like all of my wealthy friends' families did so my brother gave me an 86 camaro with a seized motor and no rear axle/driveshaft...i put the driveshaft and rear axle in and now im stuck with the engine....it had a 2.8L in it and i wanted to put a bigger motor in, say a tuned port injection 305 but i dont know enough..such as..what parts i will need to change out to accomodate the bigger motor...i know ill need to change out the tranny but what else? do i need a new wiring harnessas well? different motor mounts? i imagine it should fit in the engine bay cause i dont believe chevy would have built different siced frames for their cars that had different sized engines but what else needs swapped...if the pricetag is too hefty i may have to settle for 2.8L but id rather have a 305.....any help?

Well i'm pretty sure you will need a new engine mount, trans, wire harness to install the tpi. radiator. and the engine will fit perfect. And why get a 305 for the same price you can get yourself the 350.

How much do you have to spend? Unless you find a cheap tpi motor You might want to look at tbi or even carb. If you just need something cheap and simple id just throw a carb on any old small block and get the car rolling. Its cheap, simple, and easy to get.

but on the flips side... if your going through all of the work you might as well do it up right and the way you want it

Im just being practical. He just wants/needs a car that works. He can beef it up to whatever later if he likes. Thats how I understood his post.
Go to a junkyard and dig out a decent looking 350 or whatever with all of the accessories(alternator powersteering etc.) You could see if theres a radiator that you could use but thats a risky cause it could leak.
