Forgive the chuckle; your screen name is Kenwood guy and you're looking at a pioneer deck?
The dusl deck looks too busy for me; I can do everything I need to while driving without looking at the radio.
I dunno where you live; but the Pioneer tuners kick @$$ if you're out of the city a lot.
I'd get #2 if it were me based on those choices.
Personally; I bought the Kenwood X789 and have NO regrets.
Good Luck.

I'm a Panasonic Guy but, if I had to choose between those two I'd choose the Pioneer.
This is the one I would like when my stock CD Player gives up the ghost.

Personally, I have had a head unit with no external slot (i.e. it had to be "opened" before the disc could be ejected/inserted) and I was not too thrilled. It REALLY sucks if you are driving and trying to change discs. I have had good experience with Pioneer, but WTF is Dual?

Dual is some cheap ass brand. I played with them at Best But and wasn't impressed at all. Its like a modern Jensen. I say if it's between only those 2, definately get the Pioneer. I'd get a Alpine personally.

I have the Pioneer DEH-P47DH unit in my '01 - special height that fits very nicely in the stock opening. It has an auxiliary input that I use to plug in a mp3 player into, so you can plug in an iPod or other player. Also has a cell phone mute input that I've never used. Also has remote cd changer capability.
Sounds great!

Hi, I'm new here and this is my 1st chevy since '97. '04 silverado extended cab. I'm looking at upgrading the headunit with a kenwood. What all do you need to swap out and the best prices. I heard you have to install a chime kit thats around $100:frown: , is thee a cheaper alternative? Thanx

I'm personally an Alpine guy, but my second choice has to be the Pioneers. Go #2, without question. You're liable to have problems with that motorized face on the Dual in the future (and probably right when you lose your warranty!). Plus, the Alpine has a MUCH better display and I can guarantee you that your sound quality will be better with the Pioneer.

i would go with the pioneer in a second over the pos dual. and for the other post from skeeter you can do a cheaper way. go to circuit city and buy a metra 802003 harness and use it and it should only be like 19 bucks and get metra 992003 dash kit and metra 40gm10 antenna adapter. should run about 65 bucks total.

i have sold and dealt with
alpine = very good
pioneer = very good
jvc = has alot of problems with jammed cds and tuners burn out
sony = pretty good but have button and face problems
jensen = pos
panasonic = nice
dual = pos
this is my experience from all of these brands on head units. i would not touch a jvc myself becasue they have lots of issues.

usually the wire harness is about the same quality as well as the antenna adapter, but the mounting kits are usually junk. and trying to find a plug that fits when you go there can be a joke becasue no one will help you and there is no book of anything to go by. atleast that is how it is around here.

I have last years model of the first panasonic you have listed. Good choice. I gave Panasonic a try because I caught a good deal and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. But not the low end. The low end Panasonic is junk. A buddy has one of the $140 or so units from Circuit City and it is crap. Good Luck

Hey go with the CQ-C7303U. I just installed one in my friend's truck and man is it ever sweet. It has all the feautures of my alpine but cheaper. I-pod ready doesnt mean anything. To hook up an ipod all u need is some of those rca out puts and a connector to go to ur ipod. 7 band eq gives u more to play around and it also has a higher preamp voltage(2.5V) vs 2V(CQ-C7103U)so i would spend the extra 40$ and get it because it has a lot more feautures.
On the feauture list for the CQ-C7303U it says:
» controls for optional Panasonic iPod adapter

I never bought anything off ebay yet so i dunno. What i do know is that sometimes stores can give u better deals than you can find on the internet. When i was looking for my headunit (alpine CDA9855) all the store had it for $729 canadian but all I had was 400$. Then i went to International Stereo and the sales associate asked me how much i was willing to spend and i told him 300$. He told me that the lowest he could go was 336$ plus tax cause thats how much the store buys it for from the wholesaler. So i got a 729 dollar headunit for like 360 bucks canadian. When i first started looking for a headunit i wanted the same panasonic cqc7303u that u want but it was sold out in every store that i looked in. So my advice is to look around.

If you're looking at Sony, look at Aiwa too. Sony makes Aiwa and you may be able to get what you want in an Aiwa deck without having to pay for the Sony name.
