They just allow more fluid through and increase pressure in the tranny (i think). It just makes it snatch into the next gear. The brand will either be a B&M shift improver kit or a transgo kit. Transgo being the stronger. Your tranny is a 4R70W for reference. I've heard of people having trouble with the kits, but that's what it is, you didn't get screwed. Welcome to the forums.

I just had a monster motor sports high performance aode with a transgo shift kit installed in my sn94, and i didnt know exactly what to expect but boy am i happy. When i push it to 3500-4000rpm, it literally feels as though it is thrown into gear, like a power shift w/ a manual. I honestly dont see how you cant tell if there is a shift kit or not. if you get on it and your rear doesnt tweak sideways then ide say you dont have a shift kit.:grinyes:

the shift kit throws the trans into the next gear, with a sort of slam--kinda nice.
by doing this, it reduces friction and heat buiuld up--a natural killer of transmissions. it's a great upgrade. the next would be a trans fluid cooler unit.

there you go fixed it, trans go has pretty decent shift kits, but i would just get a diablo tuner to adjust the shift points and firmness.

Do people have trouble with the Transgo kit? I would like to do it with mine, but i looked into it a while back on here and people said that it caused problems and tore up their tranny and stuff, so i decided not to.
