How many of you actually go into the rest of this forum? Do you go out into AF, post/browse in other sections other than modelling? Or do you use this site primarliy for our modelling/diecast community?
I have the "Automotive Art" section bookmarked. So I have never really ventured out into the world of AF. Also, we need the REAL search function back so we can't yell at the n00bs for nothing. I've tried it out. It sucks. Thanks.

Nope. I show up here and leave directly from here. I find the model car community the most receptive and pleasant to be among.

Ok, mods..Are you responsible for modding all of AF? Or were you just assigned to this section?

I can mod all of AF. I am specifically responsible for this section, diecast, and Fabrication.

I wander all over AF.

Global mod means just that, global....mods with all their user details in blue are regionals and only mod specific forums, ones with titles like GTMike400 are global and get to harass the general population too.

I frequent several forums here and visit even more on an irregular basis.

the site is too big and not specific enough for my tastes: honda and mazda. i go to honda - acura.net for banter, honda-tech for reasonable responses to my questions, and roadster-chat.net for miata banter. And of course specmiata.com...

I used to venture around, but seems to me like this section gets the most discussion, and people here are pleasant like willmo stated.

I did once when I first started getting on this forum, I looked at the drawing section just to check it out, but I just get on the car modeling section and leave from it. Like everyone else has said, everybody is so pleasent and helpful.

For the most part I am the same but from time to time I venture into the 1:1 car forums. I have found this is my favorite section for threads and members, i have had to deal with some interesting characters on the other sections. I pretty much stay on here for models and Honda-tech.com for real car talk (alot of awesome members there as well) and I gotta say it's a trip to hear some of those guys drool over the stuff we have here (you should post some of your builds there willimo, they would trip out on them and give you mad respect)......I hope plugging another site then my own is not a "foul":nono:

I do sometimes wonder how this forum got so popular with Car Modeling people as this forum is a bit tucked away. Also the automotive forums main site is not really somewhere I would immediatley go when looking for car modeling sites. But I suppose its a fast forum and has the capabilities to handle a large number of posts. Anyway in answer to your question no I do not visit other forums I find them too broad also I am mainly interested in european cars.

Well in my case (three years ago) I googled something like 'car+modeling' and the first 3 entries were from this forum.
As for reply to the thread... I've only been to a jeep subforum.. and that was cause someone mis-copied p-man's painting how-to link..

I voted no in the poll as I only frequent the model section of AF, I also agree about the " search " function, it really is abysmal, unless you know exactly what you're looking for you have then got quite a hard task ahead of you, and as for newbies, weren't we all newbies at some stage in our development, so I think a bit more patience and understanding is needed by some of the more seasoned posters out there in AF land.

I too found this forum a few years ago when searching Google for "Model car forums" I have been hooked ever since all though I hate to see alot of good modelers not here anymore. maybe it's me but I have not seen near the amount of quality builders we once had but I do come here in spurts so again it could just be me missing more of the "good stuff"

I certainly don't hang out anywhere else. The AF Car Modeling page is my homepage also. I do venture beyond the car modeling forum occasionally, mostly for maintainence advice when working on 1:1's. I've found other forums here to be just as useful and helpful as this one. So unless my wife's car is misfiring, I'm usually here.

I've wandered about the Off-Topic/Coffee Break section on rare occassions, but mostly stick with the model forum.

the site is too big and not specific enough for my tastes: honda and mazda.
Exactly my feeling... The place is so big that not much traffic gets through a lot of the sub-forums. I usually hit other vehicle specific sites for my auto addiction.

I go outside these couple boards very rarly...I also find this DIECAST MODELING to be a board suits my needs to a T ...And some of these killer customs you guys make ...Do i really need to say much more..I personally am not really into 1:1 scale cars beyond "GETTING IN IT AND GOING" from point a. to point b.

So the other Boards don't appeal to me in Least

I primarily post in the Mustang section but I post all over the place about anything from Mazda concept cars to Fords announcement of 30,000 job cuts. The Mustang section is kind of slow but they have been more receptive to me than most boards. I like to run open track events and 9 out of 10 Mustang owners and fans only care about boring straight line racing. So my point of view can be totally different and sometimes gets me in trouble for pointing out flaws. I am starting to get back in to building models so who knows maybe I will start posting more in here. From what I have seen the people on the board at least try to remain civil to each other which is more than I can say about other boards I am on.

I occassionaly check out other sections but the car modeling is what I'm here for. :) I do wish the F1 and Rally forums had a bit more traffic, I'd like to discuss those subjects with the motorsport modeling people.
