Yeah, that's for sure, and it sounds good, but I like how he says he didn't want a turbo because the drivetrain couldn't hold the power, maybe cause a turbo would actually produce torque...

im pretty sure that thing has enough torque...

mmm i'm sure he's got more torque than anyone here.. and like he said, it would cost a lot. and anyone on here could figure that out for themselves. think about it; $2000 MINIMUM for a small turbo, add on fuel delivery, ecu work, intercooler and all the other small things that add up and he's well over $5000 for the turbo alone. and he said if he gets a turbo, he'd have to find a new tranny and most likely a new diff. that would lift him up past $10,000 i'm SURE. rims, tires and other small things would add up to another $5000 and there you have it. $15gs. i'm sure he enjoys spending money on his car but another $15 is a lot of money.

why would he have to find a new tranny and diff?

Because a turbo would produce significantly more torque than he has now. The RX-7 , as you know, was designed to rev high so the stock drivetrain is up to that task. But adding a hundred or two lb ft more of torque would be asking a bit much of it.

There's an 800hp FD in like Super Street (i no, i no, but its still a real car) a while back with a 100 shot of NOS and had the stock tranny, what's the problem? You would want an LSD anyways.

i'm wondering if they ever drove that fd to its potential if it was actually 800hp.. even IF they had used the stock tranny, it probably didn't last long.. keep in mind that a lot of the SS feature cars aren't in their final stage of modification.. they're just coming out as newly modded cars that nobody knows about.. i'm sure that 800hp fd has new drivetrain by now..
i don't know what you mean about "wanting an LSD anyways".. after 300whp i'm sure most people will have an LSD, let alone 500 or 800

Transmissions don't have horsepower ratings, but they do have torque ratings. Horsepower dominates at high RPM's. All the parts in the transmission are spinning, so it takes less effort to turn them compared to being at a dead stop. Torque is what you feel in your ass-dyno. If you slap a huge amount of torque on a stock transmission, from dead stop, somethings gotta give. This is why transmissions are torque rated..

That'll be funny if a 500-800 car with that much power burns out and does teh-one-tire-fire

The guy in the vid sai dhe didn't wanna buy a new diff, what I'm saying is he should of bought a new one already, like a 1.5 or 2way.

Yeah thats my point. Spinning fast isnt nearly as stressful as being asked to transfer tons of power, in a split second, without breaking.

An 800hp turbo FD has at least like 450ftlbs of torque.

I am suprised he went with only 9:1 compression ratio on a NA car. I think he could have easily ran 10:1 on pump gas.

the mazda lemans car from the early 90s had a n/a 4rotor with over 700hp and well over 500ftlb. it can make torque. just not at lower rpm
