Cam Specs?

Does anyone know the stock cam specs for the 95 4.3l vortec (vin W). Just curious because i want to compare it to the aftermarket ones and see them side by side

call someone (krane, comp who ever) but an aftermarket cam install is not a simple drop and go, they need dialed in, cyl head needs removed to degree the cam in, you have to know what your doing with this one, and in a 95, your only real option is a 4x4 or rv styled camshaft, but a cam for a 4.3 is EXPENCIVE (unless you call epc and have them cut you one from your specs) you seam smart, you wanted specs, i mentioned more then i felt needed for you because people can look this up and i dont want someone to think they buy a cam slap it in and go, and also a wild cam on a computer injected moter will need a chip cut, cost is around 410 dollers (thats what it was on my 88 firbird, blew the 2.8 and put a 3.4 block in it with the 2.8 injection) you have a newer computer, possibly a obd II possibly an obdI, so it could be more then that for a cut chip

I have done cam swaps before and i know about degreeing the cam, making sure the valve springs can handle the additional lift, adjusting the rocker arm to the correct lash.
As another option (and quite a bit cheaper) there are rocker arms the have a higher ration (i assume) than the stock ones that are currently in my truck right now. If i swap out the stock 1.5 rockers and swap in the aftermarket 1.7 rockers i know that will give me the effect of having a bigger cam, but the same duration.
Will this give me more low end grunt just like a 4x4 cam or is this gonna be top end power?
As another option (and quite a bit cheaper) there are rocker arms the have a higher ration (i assume) than the stock ones that are currently in my truck right now. If i swap out the stock 1.5 rockers and swap in the aftermarket 1.7 rockers i know that will give me the effect of having a bigger cam, but the same duration.
Will this give me more low end grunt just like a 4x4 cam or is this gonna be top end power?

found it. cam specs for the 95 cpi;
intake: .288
exhaust: .294
Lobe lift +- 0.002
o and the stock rocker ratio is 1.50

better breathing all around, not sure if that would be low or high end, but one thing, with the higher ration, the valve is going to go farther down into the cyl bore, make sure the piston and valve dont meet each other, you can also get 1.6 ratio rockers if the 1.7 doesnt work, roller rockers, roughly 250 a set

Changing to 1.7 will ruin your low end grunt . And probably bend valves with the pistons . risky business . Want more grunt look at an Edelbrock cam and intake for the CPI vortec . Rob

It will give more top-end power and lose some low end and lose some mpg. Lots of clearance issues (like you mentioned) to check, but a very easy swap when compared to a cam swap. Your effective duration will also come up too.
