Just got a '99 Jimmy with 91,000 miles for free. It is in mint (and I mean mint!) condition cosometicaly and was owned by my dad, so all matienence was done religously.

However it has a case of the rattles. The driver side door panel seems loose, and there seems to be a constant rattle from under the dash. They both rattle fairly bad, so any help or advice on finding the rattles would be appericated greatly.

Thanks guys,

Todd

The little white pegs referred to as "carrots" I believe have probably let go. You can get some new ones at Walmart or whatever autoparts store is in your area. Just take the door panel of, twist out the old pegs, twist in the new pegs and then snap the door panel back on. If you really want to stop the rattling for good, get some dynamat or blueskin (used on houses) and affix it to the back of the door panel before putting it back on.

As for under the dash, I'd suspect that you might have a screw, or pebble rolling around in the dash panel. Either that or a few screws are missing from under the dash causing the panel to vibrate. Just take it down, put a felt washer around each screw hole and then screw it back together making sure that all the screws are in place.

That should cure the rattles.
