Header Heat Tape

I'm wondering if I can put that silver heat tape or whatever it is on my stock headers. I'd like to get rid of that rusty heatshield. Don't know if this would add heat and crack those things or not. This would just be until I get some better headers. So what is that tape called, where and how much, and can I do it? Thanks, hope this is the right forum section.

Personally I'd go with this: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=13943&parentCategoryId=10633&langId=-1
It's much easier to wrap around the pipes, though you should use gloves because it will make you itch (like fiberglass).

By why do you want it? Just having it like it is, without the heat shield, will be fine.

Someone say header wrap?

I wrapped my header because I was having a problem with overheating, and this actually did help a lot. If you're gonna wrap your stock manifold just for looks and are worried about it cracking then wrap it very lightly. I think I did 2-3 layers on my integra, so just try to keep it to 1-2 layers on your car and you should be fine. I bought mine off ebay for about $50. It worked great, and it put off a very sweet smell for the first week or so. lol

I've used this stuff on headers before works great, I dont think it would crack the manifold it should be able to withstand a little extra heat.

come on now. if ur car is over heating u dont jimmy rig it. u find the problem and fix it. when an engine is put into a car stock u it runs just fine. theres no reason not to just fix the problem its self. ur ganna end up messing the car up more. my opinion.
