Hello all,
I have a 2002 Montana with 155,000 miles. I bought it six months ago with 133,000 miles.
Around 140K the engine developed a valvetrain "tick". The tick would go away after driving about 20 minutes, but over the months that tick started getting louder in those 20 minutes.
I figured one of the lifters was clogged or had a weak spring, so i tried to "unclog" it.
I tried seafoam, risoline, Lucas, tranny fluid (detergent properties), and finally a guart of 75W gear oil. None worked.
The cheapest quote I got was $2500!
Well I can rebuild my toaster, so how hard could this be?
$250 worth of parts and a weekend later, I am back on the road! The only thing I screwed up was I forgot to re-connect the MAP sensor which is in a bad palce to get to.
Other than that, the engine sounds brand new now!!!
Oh yea, 9 of the 12 lifters had bad springs. Only 3 lifters were pumping correctly. No wonder it took 20 minutes to quite down.
I pull a 6x10 enclosed trailer too.
If you have any questions about what I did, feel free to ask.
Anything I can do to help a fellow Montana owner.

I hope you didn't reuse the intake manifold gasket...
