Emissions

I have a 95 GP SE 3.1L and i have to take it through emissions as my wonderful state got their emissions program back and kindly sent me a letter telling me to give them more money. What else is new. Anyhow, I have put new spark plugs in and a new air filter. The car has 108,000 on it and runs perfectly. But I still want to make sure it will pass, if i were to take out the air filter, do you think this would increase the chances of it passing, leaner mixture? Dont want to waste money on nothing, hehe.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Don't run it without the air filter, unless you want your engine to die young....If it doesn't have a check engine light on, don't sweat it. The light comes on when the PCM detects 2X the EPA limit for exhaust emmisions..

There are several other items that may help. Change the pcv valve with a new one. Change oil if it has not been changed lately may sound strange but it will help keep things lubricated and run efficiently. Next, remove the EGR valve and clean the passageways into the engine. This will insure that it is working properly. Also clean the idle air control motor and the throttle body. All of these things will make the car run cleaner and help you pass.
