Took the car to Marco Muffler today because i thought there was a something wrong with my muffler. nothing wrong im just dumb. But while the car was up on the lift the guy got in the car and revved it a few times. Turns out, what i thought was lifter tick, is definitely coming from the bottom end of my engine. rod knock anyone? im not sure if it is tho. its not there all of the time, but for the most part it is. really annoying ticking that raises and falls with RPM. lame to the max. any suggestions besides driving it until it blows up?

I don't think it is rod knock. That is usually a lot louder and doesn't really sound like a tick. It would sound like, well a knock.

there's an easy wayo to distinguish rod knock vs. lifter tick

while the engine is running and warm, remove one spark plug wire and listen to the engine. If it changes sound drastically or even goes away, it's rod knock in that cylinder. Do this to every spark plug wire one by one. Hope it's just lifter tick!
