Hey, name's Kyle. Just bought a 93 Grand Prix SE. Pretty new to them, don't know much. From what I know, it has nearly every option. 3.1 MPFI, 4-speed auto, dual exhaust. It has all electric interior, even seats, full steering wheel radio controls.

So far, I'm just trying to fix the car up...already replaced the motor mounts. My next check is buying me stuff for a tune up, then the struts. After that, I plan on modifying it slightly. Nothing much, just to make it fun...Thinking exhaust to make it nice and throaty sounding, maybe some stuff for performance eventually. If you guys have any tips or ideas to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

The old style 3.1 doesn't take well to mods. A cold air intake and freeing up the exhaust are about it. No one makes a reprogrammed ECM or power programmer for it that I know of. Welcome to the forums, feel free to ask anything, as that's what we're here for.

Welcome to AF!! A cold air intake will help with performance and they are relatively inexpensive. You may also want to change plug wires when you change the plugs.

I plan on replacing the plugs, wires, and air filter. Do you know where to get some bigger wires? Like 8 or 8.5mm? The air filter seems pretty good, but its cheap shit. But if you have a site to get a CAI, I'd get that instead. She also needs some new struts, and I've looked through the site, and decided I'll probably be going with KYB, but with exhaust, I'm still pretty stuck on. Not sure if I want Flowmasters or Magnaflow.

Whatever you do, please don't buy cheap wires.

Your best bet is to go with the premium 7mm AC Delco wires.

In all honesty though, if you have a multimeter you can check the resistance of the wires and if they're ~1K ohms per foot then your wires are fine and replacing them will do nothing. The factory wires are as good as they get and they last a long time.

Tayler has a 8mm plug wire for that. I owned a 93 grand prix se. it had the gold wheels and gold pin striping with the 3.1 engine in there. Do you have that ecu in frount of the shifter? Keep in mind that the dore handles could break on the car. They did on mine. I heard alot of people had that problem. Magnaflow muffler is what i had on my gp, it sounded great. Get a hi-flow cat while your at it.
