digital camcorders

Alright my gf and i are lookin into buying a digital camera together and i would like some opinions. I know some reputable name brands like canon (example) but i dont know much about digital camcorders. I would like to try and keep the price around 300 bucks. As long as it can connect and transfer video to the pc and take decent pictures it will work just fine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

There are some good deals on E-bay man. I got my wife a JVC GR-D290U for around $200. Looked and worked perfect. If you don't mind "pre-owned". It does everything you need it for. New ones were just too $$$ for me.
