1996 Continental Battery Drain

Hi- my buddie's continental will periodically discharge the battery- down to 7 volts- overnight- battery has been replaced- I have been doing amp draw tests- sometimes have a .200 amp draw from maxi fuse 6- which leads to left door and left seat controls- but have actually had this fuse removed overnight and still had battery go down- Have checked alternator- no draw- The light control module (LCM) appears flakey- sometime dome lights don't come on with door- sometimes they flicker- hate to throw parts at it- has anyone seen a common problem? I am not all that familiar with Lincolns. Also how does the alarm system work- I found that someone has removed the horn fuse- perhaps because it may sound off periodically? I re-installed it and all seems to be well- But can't find the exact component that is causing the battery to go dead overnight.....Thanks

ok my first silly question...how old is the battery?

I guess I should have clarified- when I mentioned that it had been replaced- I meant to say "a brand new battery was installed"- I have charged and let the battery disconnected from the car and it will start the car every time.

Although there is no continuous amp draw from the alternator- I have just yesterday caught it not charging upon start-up- and then intermittent until it warms up- along with a raspy sound emitting from the alternator- when it is "not charging"- so I will change that tomorrow- Thanks for your help.........

Think you're on the right track then. I gather you have a handy volt meter to test it out. Let us know how it goes...good luck

Had the alternator rebuilt yesterday- $95- they said it was really bad- all diodes fried- wanted to know if my battery was staying charged- They said it was definitely the cause of the battery drain- so I put it all back together- so far so good- 14.36 volts at the battery- and it started today!!!
