Sorry bad Seinfeld joke but a pulley swap on the GT500 can't be done. Here are the latest pics of the engine.
No room for upper to be smaller. The snout is nearly the full dia of the pulley ID.

No Room for Lower to be bigger. There is a sensor boss formed in the timing chain cover less than 3/8" from the pulley lip.

Just have to get a bigger blower, I guess. :grinyes:

Yep that's the only way to get more boost. The GT500 is going to be far more harder to mod than the 03/04 Cobra was and cost more money in the end. So it looks like the 03/04 Cobras are still the best bang for the buck.

I dont really see it as a big problem unless 475hp actually isnt enough for a street car . Ford has this (nice) habit of severely underrating the bhp on this kind of thing, so it will probably have ~450+ at the wheels.
Will there be enough room under the hood for a turbo?

he does bring up a good point, after the 99 cobra everything has been underrated. im pretty sure you saw what the ford gt did on a mustang dyno right. in reality it has slightly more than 600bhp

The GT is rated at 550 flywheel, right? Then it made someting like that on a chassis dyno. :D

The GT500 will not hit 450rwhp. They may hit 435rwp but that is if they have 500 at the crank.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see 450 at the wheels. I really wouldn't be surprised to see them planting 500 on the ground with bolt-ons and tuning....
Plus, there's ways around EVERYTHING! Hot rodders will figure it out. That's what we do. Period. In 1986 the dawn of EFI on the 5.0 engine was deemed "the end of hot rodding". Look where we are today......

I saw an article comparing the viper to the ford gt and new z06, and they did dyno tests on all three of them to see how much horsepower they really made. The ford gt was only overrated by like ~2% of what they actually clamied (BHP VS WHP!!!), whereas the viper and vette had more loss...I think the ford made about 535 to the WHEELS. From a 550 bhp claim, that is amazing!
Personally I would take an 03 any day over the gt500....it just doesn't seem right, kinda off beat like the 02 cobra r's. Hell, 03s made over 350 to the WHEELS and with JUST a K&N FIPK they were making in WHP what ford claimed they made stock in BHP. Plus, you can get a good used cobra for under well 20k (buddy of mine got his for 15k with 20k miles on it!), whereas the new gt500 is upwards of 45k (not sure of the exact price, but that sounds about right).

^ that article you saw also said the ford gt probably had something more like 600hp, i know the one.
cobra R was 2000, not 02.
i thought the gt500 was about 40k, slightly more maybe. not 45

ehh well i wouldnt buy a vert anyway. seriously why would you, less performance and more money. its not worth it. the mark up will end soon enough though. besides a lot of people that can afford that car brand new can probably easily handle a 10k mark up.

You do know there will be only 7K-14K total over a minimum 2 years. I don’t see the dealer screw job ending especially since all dealers get them now and SVT dealers are a thing of the past. 7 is the max number I have ever heard of one dealer getting so far and the average is 2.
