I'm beyond :banghead: :banghead: :nono: :nono: that we're not going to get to see WRC in the States this year because Speed Channel isn't carrying it.
I HATE NA$CAR and Speed Channel is all about going 100% NASCAR and killing off coverage of any other racing series. This is just another in a line of series they have dropped. They are pathetic. This weekend we saw way too many auction hours and bobsled racing and a bunch of fat old guys sitting around wearing headsets and talking a bunch of talkshow nonsense about NA$CAR. And no goddamned WRC.
Last year they didn't show WRC until 11 pm on Sunday evening, for 1.5 hours. The previous year it came on at 9 pm for 2 hours. The previous year to that it was on for three hours. You can see how they've been slowly weaning us off of WRC. Speed Channel blames the FIA. Sorry, that doesn't sound at all honest. I hope OLN will pick up the coverage, as they did w/Dakar.
So hope you guys overseas that get WRC coverage enjoy it. That Focus looks awesome. I'll never be able to watch it on TV anymore :shakehead :banghead: :frown:

Just saw some pictures of the new focus this morning, must say i'm pretty impressed! As for what was said about speed channel, I agree, I'm getting tired of having to tape DTM races at 4 in the morning. At least they'll have coverage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans again this year (I Hope)

Wrong how Bob? Toyota are made in the US. So are most Subies. I doubt any of the US companies will make the new Focus. AT ALL, since we still aren't getting the replacement for a few more years. But most likely Hasegawa over Tamiya will make one.

Indeed, as I said in the Rally forum (why do all you rally fans not visit there?) the new Focus looks great. Not only that, it is already a winner :) Gronholm is my favourite driver, so I'm hoping Hasegawa do a kit, I'd buy and start building it in a heartbeat. The new livery is a better idea than the seperate ones they've used the past few years.
Regards WRC TV coverage, in Australia we usually have to wait a few weeks until we can see a single hour of highlights. So I still have to see the new cars and teams in action, appart from still pictures and timings on the internet. :(

Because it's everything that's wrong w/motorsports in the US, from top to bottom. It has nothing to do w/the fact that the Camry is a damned good appliance and built in the US. There are a lot of racing series that Toyota is involved in that have real meaning for and about the products they sell.
NASCAR isn't about cars or racing, it's only about marketing names and putting drivers on the pedestal-the cars are barely a part of the equation, they're all just cookie-cutter spec cars. The Camry (and Fusion and Charger and all of them) are horrid looking race cars that are merely bloated billboards for another message. The cars have nothing at all in common w/their products, nothing but a "name" to give their cars street cred.
The Focus rally car is awesome. It has true meaning to the fans in that the car is cool and you'll be able to buy one like it (except in the US). The successes of it will pay dividends to the street versions. Real street cred.
What's that Camry stock car going to mean to the version you can buy? Absolutely NOTHING. You're not going to hear Bubba sceaming at the track that he's going to go buy a Camry tomorrow because it's so damned cool.

All motorsport is treated poorly on Australian TV. Even the localy idolised V8s are seldom treated to live coverage. According to local programmers the Formula One, Champ Car and WRC seasons consist of a single solitary round - the Australian one. The rest get shuffled to delayed telecast midnight timeslots and sporadic Sunday afternoon repeats.
Our coverage of the Perth WRC round used to be fantastic with several stages live, including the spectacular final short SS at Bunnings (back when it was still called that). These days what coverage there is, is complete tripe. Very little footage of the cars, just Channel 10 journalists standing around interviewing each other about nothing. I kid you not!

Good grief...sounds like Aussie V8's are covered better in the UK??!! We get 'as live' coverage of each round and overnight live coverage of the Bathurst race. What about MotoGP?? Just the Aussie round..?? It helps in the UK having a 24 hour dedicated motorsport channel (MotorsTv) which cover Live BTCC, DTM, Nascar Busch and we have Eurosport covering WRC, MotoGP, WTC, Indycar and WSB. Sky cover BSB (British Superbikes), speedway, IRL and others....ITV do F1 and WRC, NASN do full live Nascar and the BBC do...well you get the picture - we're spoilt!
So it's wall to wall 'Neighbours' then!! :disappoin

Well V8s are pretty well covered in Australia, although very few of the rounds are truly "live". The meet is usually spread over two days with the first race always delayed by a day and the others by a few hours to fit in with Channel 10's "before-the-news" Sunday afternoon timetable. Big races like Bathurst and Adelaide are fully live.
Formula One slots in after the Sunday movie, which is a reasonable delay for the European races, but bloody silly for closer time zones like Japan and Malaysia. Occasionally we'll be blessed with a non-delayed Suzuka race but that is the exception.
Moto GP coverage is actualy improving, I guess because of the fairly high profile Australian involvement. Although it interests me less than four wheel racing.
WRC is a complete joke, sometimes it is a month before we see the highlights and I always forget to check the TV guide and miss most of them. I am taking about free to air TV here, reportedly pay TV is a bit better.

If there's ever a Camry kit released by Revell, I want to paint it white with Maytag decals (though a white xB would be even more appropriate...maybe as a support vehicle :icon16: ). Watching NASCAR is about as thrilling for me as doing the wash  .

Phil,
They usually show OZ, Malaysia and Japanese F1 GP live(or there abouts) here in Perth. Everything else is delayed. But usually the races are run mid evening, so it is delayed more so than over east.
Best thing that I can say to you Phil, is I MISS ADELAIDE AND THE CLIPSAL 500!!!!!!!..Waaaahhhhhhhh
I liked the Rally OZ, but didn't go after Seb was born. With all the new rules and the change from Langley park to Glouster Park for the SS stage, they F*cked it up!
