B16A tranny options

What other trannies work with the b16a (and what cars do they come from)?
I have the Y1 tranny, wondering if there is something with a more spread out gear ratio (i.e. 3000-3500 rpm at 70mph in 5th gear).
Really I'll getting used to my engine and I will probably keep the tranny I have. The acceleration is amazing, but freeway driving is not as comfortable as before...

Where would your RPM be at 70 mph in 5th gear?
Are you driving yet? I just noticed that you just finished your swap too... have you done anything else like exhaust/CAI/etc.?

I believe the y1 is the longest geared from the jdm cable trannies. the s1 and j1 are supposed to be tightly geared (from what I've read). Another option is a tranny from a 90-91 integra ls, which has awfully long gears (usually preferred in a turbo setup). I know what you mean about the y1 feeling short on the highway because it revving high in the non-vtec range. Plus those HASport billet mounts are rigid so the vibration magnifies the noise.

Exactly, and the CAI probably doesn't help much either. I am getting used to it though... at 65 mph in 5th it revs at just under 4000, which is pretty comfortable.
As for the rattle, I must be getting used it. I'm probably so high with my new found power I don't notice it anymore!
I'm assuming that the tranny from a 90-91 integra ls would mean sacrificing accerelation and lowend torque?

yes, the longer gears will have the car feeling slower. The reason why they are better for turbo is that you simply will run through the gears fast enough with the turbo's extra power. I've never been in a car with a b16 and ls tranny n/a, but I'd imagine the low end is even more boring than it already is with the y1.

Y1, YS1 are the tightly geared ones...made for the SiR's (close ratio) thats the reason for the short gears and hi revs. J1, S1 made for longer freeway style driving or turbo.
