I recently completed a motor swap in my 1998 Chevy Malibu 3.1 v6 auto. I was able to do this in my schools shop in two weeks.(High School Shop) (45 mins a day and a seized motor) I was unable to get to the flywheel to get to the three bolts that connect it to the converter. I dropped the oil pan and loosened the mains. I pushed my seized bearings out with a hammer and chisel and this allowed me to spin my once seized motor around to get to those flywheel bolts. Had the pistons been seized it would have been another problem, but they weren't. I'm mechanically inclined and was able to do the motor swap without a manual. It is all really common sense and all the wires on the harness only plug into one place...On a scale of 1 to 10 - 10 being the hardest, I give it a 5. I did swap by myself without any helpers. It is really that easy. If anybody needs any help replacing a motor in a 1997-2000 Malibu or Cutlass feel free to email me and I will give you all the advice you will need -- Pics, tools, sourcing parts, anything :smokin:
