OK I'm currently rebuilding my 4g63...
and i have arrived at this point... balance shafts... eliminate or repair, the cost really isn't a concern since this is my baby... but are there any draw backs? i mean they put them in there for a reason.. but has anyone eliminated them, does the engine really vibrate badly or rock or is it even noticeable? i know it free' up some horsepower and it' going to be a inherently a more reliable car.. wait i think I'm talking myself into eliminating them... what do you guys think...?

It doesn't vibrate any more than any other 4cyl. :2cents:

It will be rougher than usual. There just there to make the car smoother, to balance out from the roughness of the engine. They're easy to keep out. My friend took his out of his Sentra. The things a beast also, so its already rough. Im going to do it to mine eventually. Just like the engine mounts, you'll get used to it.

I took them out o my talon and didn't notice any vibration increase. My eclipse came with them out and it's not bad at all. The only reason they are there is to eliminate vibration. Removing them also increases your oil pressure pretty signifigantly. I don't have an aftermarket gauge on my talon but it was at least a 50% increase.
