i think there is something here we havent considered. yes the vid ticks me off, those are OUR men. yes i can see why SOME fight change thus the insurgents, but who has gone farther to the extreme here... these guys have made videos of them cutting american's heads off. i have seen 2 of them before they got banned. and those were not clean kills. we havent been torturing these people... humiliating maybe, but we havent been cutting thier fingers off or breaking thier legs. we have been killing them. personally that to me is more human. and if you notice they regard life in a very different aspect that we do, we cherish life... to a degree that it makes us flinch to do things. like bombing schools that have been storages for weaponry, that would have been protected then destroyed to the last man. and we worry about destroying it, why? cuz there might be women and children.? what is worth more to us thier lives... or our soldiers? < that is a question i have no answer for.

yeah, i think that's the problem with most of us americans. a lot of pple i know, (and not necessarily on friendly terms with), truely blame religion for the slaughter thats happening over there. Same time, though, its these same kind of one-sided vids that are spread by fundamentalists over there to have the same effect on un educated muslims to make them think they are being oppressed and whatever other propaganda terrorist groups want to spread.

the big problem i see is oil, as during Saddam's rule, the bathist (excuse any mis spelled words) party was in total control, and that meant control of the oil in regions of the south and north of Iraq. now that they have been usurped, the three main goups that remain are very roughly 40% kurdish in the north, 40% shiite in the south, and about 20% suny in between them. Kurds want power because a) they want control of the oil they are sitting on, and b) they want to sucede from Iraq and form Kurdistan. Shiite's want power because a) they want control of the oil they are sitting on and the oil the Kurds are on up north, and b) to keep Kurds from suceding and forming Kurdistan. The sunies want power because a) they are the minority, and b) they are sitting on no oil at all, and want control of the wells north and south of them. Because the sunies are the minority, there is very little chance for them to progress their goals in any democratic manner, so they resort, many times, to what they think is more persuasive ways of violence. Much of Iraq do want the coalition to stay, and help clean up and keep order. but that most of Iraq is pretty happy with the way things are looking for them. (note: of the three religious factions, the above is only a generalization for the sunies. Just because someone is a suny muslim, doesn't make them fit that certain criteria. same goes for any religion.)

That's all just what i make of part of the situation that we're dealing with right now.dont want you to think that all i know is there are troops there and they're fighting "bad guys"... i'm sure there is more i don't know about, i'm just not totally uneducated on whats going on here.

the point of if oil was a reason we went over there has been brought up a number of times within the last year or so... does anyone else believe oil was a factor?... i have no opinion about it, i thought it was a mute point, and with oil still going up and we havent taken over or increased flow into the US (which would make prices slump) i dont see it as much of a point. but there are those who disagree
