88 S-10 Blazer Ignition Fault

I have an 88 S-10 Blazer thats been acting up for the last few months and now its worse. The problem is when I turn the key to start the truck it does nothing. All lights and accessories work, starter does not attempt to crank and there's no clicking from the solenoid. Some days it would crank right up for weeks at a time. And all of a sudden no crank. You come later and it would crank. I've replaced the key/lock assy and today I replaced the ignition switch on the sterring column. Still no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help will be much appreciated.

manual or automatic trans? check to make sure all wiring is tight at solinoid(starter). thats what it sounds like to me. or the solinoid is just going bad.

Might be the neutral safety switch. If auto tranny, there's a switch that won't let the starter go unless it's in park or neutral. If manual, there's a switch that won't let it go unless the clutch is disengaged. Check the switch, condition and position. They are usually position adjustable, and if they get out of position, they won't make.

This morning my wife took me to work, which is also the place where my truck had died on me. I attempted to start the truck and again nothing. When I returned to the shop at the end of the day, I was going to check the starter and solenoid. I decided to turn the key to see if it would crank and it started rightup. Nothing was done to the truck since replacing the starter switch the day before, except make two attempts to start it. Nothing was touched, adjusted, wiggled or removed between attempt #1 and 13 hours later attempt #2.

To answer the question about tranny, it's an automatic.
