I've just begun to notice that upon releasing the clutch in reverse, it makes a whining sound. This happens when I'm at the friction point. I'm thining the clutch may be bad, but my forward drive gears work fine. What do you think this sound is coming from?

Everyone that I have ever driven. See back up, and even ridden in has made that noise.

all manual transmissions whine when they back up because of the way the gear is designed. if i remember correctly, the forward gears are helical in design and the reverse one uses a straight spur gear.
