I find it a shame that many people do not read anymore. I just finished reading Ender's Game for the 15 millionth time and it's just as good as when I read it in Middle School. Personally it's my favorite book.

Anyone here read? Got a book you love?

I've read (and own) all of the Ender's Series and the Bean Series that followed.

I'm reading a collection of novels now called "Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin. Just finished the second book, "A Clash of Kings", the other night so I started reading Ender's Game to pass the time until the third book arrives at my doorstep as an early birthday gift to myself.

Im half way through the 3rd book, but it fell to bits.
Be warned, its a bit slow in places, much slower than the 2nd one.
My g/f has just read the 4th book, and is waiting on the 5th.
Both her, and someone else who have read it said its VERY SLOW and boring.
Just to let you know what your in for :D
Fortunatly the 5th book sounds much better.

"War and Peace" anyone? "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" was good. "Waiting for Gadot" was hilarious although it's a play actually. Too many to list...

Anyone read "Pudd'n Head Wilson" by Mark Twain? It's absolutely fantastic writing...crappy title, but a great read.

"War and Peace" anyone?

Holy crap, did you actually read the whole thing? That was a frickin' huge book.

Anyway, as corny as it is, my favourite book (so far) is LOTR: Retun of the King. I got so hooked on it I read the whole thing in a day.

If you liked Waiting for Godot, you should read / see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. The movie was directed by the guy who wrote the play, so the movie is pretty legit.

sophie's choice - kind of a romance type story following the life a young aspiring writer and a girl he meets one summer and her history living thru the holocaust

the hot zone - history of the ebola virus epidemic and the hunt for a cure and it's origin. this book is really captivating, you now couldn't pay me a million dollars to go to africa after reading it but this is an amazing book

passage - *realistic fiction* a doctor's story of trying to figure out what NDE's (near death experiences) mean and if there is a way to save people who are having one and are on the verge of death.

those are my 3 fav books, they're not girly or anything so i recommend them to all of you, sorry i couldn't remember any of the authors.

Read it. It was good, but Godot was better. Then there's...schiz, it's the play in Spider-Man 2. The Importance of being Earnest. That was funny!

All Quiet on the Western Front I think is my favorite though. Good all around in every aspect. Next is the Fountainhead. I tell you, those huge books fill in a lot free time.

Catch 22 and Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galxy are the funniest books ever.
War of the Worlds, To Kill a Mocking Bird.
I just finished rereading The Chronicles of Narnia. After I saw the movie that just came out it seemed like a good idea. I forgot how much I like those books.
Keeping on the fantasy theme, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

My favorite book right now is The Birth of Venus.

My favorite authors are George Carlin and Carl Hiaasen.

Other favorites -
The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
Dracula - Bram Stoker
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Naked Pictures of Famous People - John Stewart
The Pleasure of My Own Company - Steve Martin
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
The Meg Series - Steve Alten

And of course...all the Harry Potter books.

And like, 8 million others. I read a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Like, a crazy amount of books that can't even begin to be explained.

I finished Card's Ender and Bean series last year (with the release of shadow of the giant). I already read Card's Sarah, but I can't seem to find Rebecca, so instead I started on The Shadow of Earth, but the end was kinda sucky, so I'm wondering if I REALLY want to read the rest of the series.

Also on the "loved it" list are The Great Gatsby, (i'm drawing a blank now for some reason... if my brainfart ends, I'll try to remember some others)

edit: OMG, how could I forget Flatland!!!! AMAZING book!

Anything by Brian Jacques, Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, and Tolkien. I'm currently on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, i'm on the last book so far and i've been reading him since my junior year of high school. There's one book that i've read more than once, and that's the Silmarillion by tolkien.

I read it in Honors English 10, and fell in LOVE with it... I had these beautiful images about how things looked, smelled, sounded, etc. THEN my teacher showed us the movie and it completely TRASHED my images.

Moral of the story... don't watch the movie if you liked the book itself.
