welll..... i have dedicated my first months income on a turbo and driver side axel.... but i was looking around at RRE and SBR and all their turbos are like $580 some bucks for EVOIII 16G is there any other sites that i should know about so i can make the best decision on a purchase... and that turbo should bolt right up to my 1G right? and can i re-use the coolant and oil lines?? (off 14B) I was also just thinking would it be worth it to buy a supra side mount?? with that 16G? i really don't want to have a front mount.... i don't want to be always racing pontiacs.... i rather choose the race... is there a bigger difference with the supra over the stocker? and is dejon tool the only good UICP and LICP place to buy from?? Also I was wondering what should be ported on the turbo? I will be using a ported 2G manifold with that turbo.... hopefully by spring time i will have enough money for paint and suspension pieces.... thanks guys:naughty:

I wouldn't pay over 550 for a new 16g

Extremepsi.com has the evo3 for $530, and if you want them to port the turbine housing, and upgrade the wg flapper, add $124.

Just get it ported don't worry about the WG flapper.
And it will bolt right up to your 1g. You can use the stock coolant lines, but it would be better to just replace them.
You can get a supra side mount, but it will be a marginal improvement over the stock side mount. I know you don't want to get a fmic, but for almost the same price as a supra you can get a front mount and get much better gains. If you want to keep a stock appearence, I would just recommend keeping the stock sidemount and spending that money elsewhere.
I have Greddy I/C piping and it's great. The only downside is you can only use a greddy bov with it. But if you have greddy bov you can pick up the I/C piping fairly cheap.

I've done a lot of research on intercoolers because I'm thinking of upgrading mine (when I get my car back). It is so much cheaper to go with a front mount than a bigger side mount that it almost isn't funny. I've been reading some threads on DSMTuners about how people have been having a lot of luck with the e-bay IC cores and most go for only about $120. Pipes and couplers will run you only another $100 or so, so why not.
If it is appearance, that is a whole different story. A supra side mount WILL heat soak on an evo16G after a few hard runs running at high boost (20+) from what I've read. If you are a stoplight warrior you probably will be fine provided you have all the other supporting mods. If you are going for multiple runs at the track consecutively, you'll probably heat soak it pretty quick.
You can use your stock coolant lines. Hell, I used my stock 2g lines on my evo16g without a problem (water and oil). It required a little bending and manwork but it's on and awesome.
I'd spend a little more $ and get it from some reputable vendor. A turbo is such a key component that you want to be sure you're not getting screwed. I almost bought a turbo from SSAutochrome because it was a "great deal" and then I read a substantial amount of material indicating people have had major problems with their turbos. Maybe it's just me but I like to be sure on things. When you have a a part as mechanically refined as a turbo, I want some sort of reputation backing it up whereas a metal pipe is a metal pipe is a metal pipe (in regards to ic piping and intakes).
As far as porting, you can do it yourself if you are fairly confident and have the right tools. Otherwise, it is worth the extra few bucks to have it done right.

I got mine from turbochargers.com, they usually have the best prices. They have the EVO III for 459.99 and then the EVO III GT(which is the one I bought that is ported and with a larger wastegate,34mm) for 499.99. They used to have the GT for cheaper but I guess supply is going down on those.
Why not get a nice fmic? Just because someone sees you having a frontmount doesn't mean they'll want to immediately race you. I'm willing to bet you will be kicking yourself later on if you bought the supra smic.
I will be using a ported 2G manifold with that turbo...
Hey where'd you get that from? lol:p

Yeah, I would just go front mount as opposed to supra sidemount. Like stated above, you can get a big ass eBay core for less than $200 and I've heard plenty of good reviews on them. If you just want to appear stock, you could have it painted, but I would imagine that would take away from the cooling power. I too would just take it and go with a reputable shop for your turbo. I know endlessheart666 had good luck with his China 16g but I know that plenty of other people havent.

see i like the $499 price but like i think RRE and SBR have that lifetime warranty thing.... so i don't know, another thing about a FMIC.. is that i don't want something huge.... like i know TedEX fmic is like the size of my hip to my head.... i don't need something that big... so i don't have to cut that much of the bumper... my car i know already had a FMIC because there was some cutting to make room for pipes... so i know its possible... then again the bumper is held on by like 3 screws/bolts and zip ties... ( pretty damn sterty (sp)) and endlessheart your my hero for the manifold lol thanks again =P, but what parts of the turbo would you guys sugest being ported? and quick question as well does the K&N filter do anything more than the stock orange one lol?

I would get a stainless steel oil feed line for "just in case" purposes.

Agreed. I retract my previous statement that I reused all my 2g lines. I forgot that I did get the SS oil line.

Here's the 16g gt from that same place talon69 listed http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8018109153&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSII_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
I'd get that it's ported and bb for only $50 more!! It has a warranty and if it fails they replace it and give you $150 for your labor of removing and installing the new one. That is a good sign it shows they have a lot of confidence in their turbos.

Damn i amost totally forgot about this lol. I got my evo 3 big 16gt at this website along with one of my friends. They are great to deal with, when my friend put his new turbo on he had a plugged line i guess and he ran the turbo with no oil LMAO. Turbo was only 5 minutes old on the car and shot!!! busherracing took it back and sent him another one, i was very impressed.
It was $500 shipped!!!

extremepsi.com , i've spent over 3k there, great staff, free shipping, they give major discounts, I have up to 20 or 30 off if you spend over 3 or 400, so let me know if you do, i'll pm you the coupon code.
I wouldn't waste time with a sidemount, do you like to upgrade twice?

Turbos are performance parts. I agree. :) If all the "good" questions (turbos, fuel, tuning/logging, ICs, race tranny/motor, etc) ended up in the performance section I would be happy.
