2001 Ga Back Window Heating

i noticed that the sauder on the wire circuit broke off the window, ive been told that i have to replace the whole window that they cant just sauder it back on, does anyone know how to fix it, like by glueing it back on, and keeping the connection so my window will defrost.?

This just happened to me recently. You can solder the circuit back to the window. What i did, which seemed to work the best was to put the metal connector to the window, then held the soldering gun to it until it heated up enough to remelt the old solder so it would stay, after that i put some more around the edges to keep it up. you can also put some small pieces on the back of the connector, then after it cools, heat it up, up against the window. it'll have the same effect as i first described. Be very careful, if you have to add solder get some very thin stuff that will melt quickly. Try not to hold the hot tip in the same place I have seen windows break. I used to install after market rear defogers (way back when not all cars came with them). Clean the area with some rubbung alcohol before you start, make sure to get the contact points clean, by doing that the whole process will go quicker.

so i should clean off the solder that is on the window, the problem is where i live it gets like -20 outside so i know i need an indoor place so my car is room temp, then i guess id have to heat the solder off the window then clean it then clean the solder off the contact wire and then place some solder on the contacts then attach it to the window and reheat it so it sticks.

You may not have to clean off the existing solder, just make sure that the two areas that you are going to join are clean, by doing that the solder should melt faster and make the connection stronger because there will not be any contamination to make the weak. But like I said try not to hold the tip in the same spot too long you do not want to heat a small area for too long.

It would be best to get it inside somewhere to do the work and if you can, a heated garage would be best. Any way, take care to try to put the two contact points together and then lay the soldering iron tip on the contact point to join the two.
