Hi. Novice. Questions.

Hi. My names Jay. Im about to get an 06 Chevy Cobalt LS, 2 door coupe. Im pretty sure it comes wit 145hp and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions bout how to give it a little boost. I dont wanna spend to much, but im willin to spend a bout a thousand to hook it up. Like the subject says, im new at this, though im not a complete idiot. I just want some suggestions on how to go about it and what would benefit it most. Thanks.
