Probably gonna lose the Rodeo......

I was driving out of town this morning at 3am all loaded up for a hunting trip. I was going down the interstate at 70mph and saw a car coming up behind me real fast and changing lanes all over the place. As he got closer I knew what was going to happen and then he hit me in the rear. I was spun around going backwards down the interstate with my passenger side grinding the guard rail going backwards.

Once I came to a stop I saw this honda civic street racer with the entire front end crunched. Someone stumbles out of the passenger side and starts stumbling/running away. I immediately got on my cell phone and called 911 reporting the accident and what the guy looked like and where he was running. The cops found him with a bloody face at a donut shop a block off the highway, I am guessing he was drunk but don't know for sure yet.

The rodeo back glass shattered and rear end is messed up. Looks like the rear passenger fenderwell got crunched up and flattened tire. The engine compartment was completely spared. I got real lucky and did not hit the guard rail head on.

I am incredibly lucky to have walked away from this without a scratch. The kid had an insurance card but who knows if the policy is good. I have 125K on my rodeo and just put a grand into replacing timing belt, tensioner and water pump. I am kind of expecting the insurance is just gonna want to total it out and give me the couple grand the blue book is. Really has me bummed out since I think the truck will go for 250K.

I am safe so thats all that matters.

Maybe I will get lucky and they will fix it since it looks like just body damage in rear and along the passenger side.

Freakin rice racers :uhoh: Glad you are ok though.

I'm pretty sure the insurance company will total your rodeo unfortunatly. If the repairs cost more then a certain percentage (I think its 60%) of the value then they total it. If you can find one with a blown engine for sale cheap then you could buy back the totalled one and just swap. Or invest what you get into a 2nd gen rodeo :grinno:

When my mitsu got totalled they gave me full wholesale value for excellent condition. Which was alot more money then I was expecting them to give me. It looked great but wasnt in that good of conditon. I bought it back for $500 and fixed it since the damage was just sheet metal. Unfortunalty I took it to maaco to be painted and it looked like crap every since. Even though the damage wasnt that bad a body shop would have charged more then 60% of the value to fix it (cost me $500 in salvage parts and $500 for a crap paint job).
