94 Ranger XLT with the 4 liter V6 will not start. I started it up the other day and then it idled briefly and died. I have never been able to get it started since. Turns over no problem but no juice. I haven't spent too much time looking into it yet and was hoping for some direction. The truck only has 92k miles on it. Good shape for the most part. Thanks
I also wanted to say that... Yes, it has gas in it.

Make sure you check the inertia switch (underneath passenger side dash), if you hit a bump real hard or hit the brakes hard sometimes they can trip. When they trip they deenergize the fuel pump and you may be able to start it with the pressure in the fuel rail and die immedietly. I would also check your fuses, if you use a test light it will only take a minute to check all the fuses. You can check for spark, if you have a spark tester or a timing light that will work, or some people will remove the spark plug and hook it back up to the wire and lay it on the block or the frame and try to start it while they watch the spark plug to see if it sparks. Another thing you can check is fuel pressure, if you can get a fuel pressure gauge from an auto parts store, you may be able to rent one from an auto zone or something like that. You want to hook up the gauge up to the fuel rail (metal fuel line that feeds the injectors) at the shrader valve and turn the key to the run position, you may have to cycle the key a few times becasue the pump will only run for a few seconds when placed in the run position, the pressure should be at 35-45 psi with key on engine off, 25-35 psi at idle and vacuum line attached to fuel pressure regulator, and 35-45 psi at idle with vacuum hos disconnected. This should get you started and headed in the right direction, if you can post the results we may be able to help you isolate the problem so you do not have to just throw parts at it and hope you get lucky. While you are at it you could look for loose connectors on the engine, I wouldn't spend too much time on that though. But I would make sure to check the connector for the crankshaft positioning sensor, even unplug it and plug it back in.

Hey,
Thanks a ton for all the detailed info. I have not yet been able to dive into the problem yet. I am going to go pick up a manual this evening and possibly a multimeter. My meter is dead and you have to send it to Fluke to get the battery replaced unfortunately. Thanks again and I will keep you posted on what actually fixes the problem
