lowering 85 caprice

Im getting my 85 caprice lowered. I need some opinions how many inches, and do I need to change the size of my wheels when I get it lowered.

While I personally don't like seeing people do these to these cars, it is your car and if you want to do it right, don't simply heat the coils. That will lower it, so in that regard, mission accomplished - HOWEVER, and this is a huge one - the geometry on the suspension is going to be way off, and you'll kill your springs. What's wrong with that? You'll bottom it on every bump, you'll wear tires, your handling will go away and your ride will do likewise. The car will also become dangerous to drive at speeds of over 15 miles per hour. If you really want to lower it, you can get special spindles that raise the tire in relation to the rest of the suspension. This will drop the car while retaining factory handling, ride, comfort, SAFETY and longevity. It's really the only way to do it if you don't want to wind up an 'organ donor'.
You can use suspension parts for the '94-96 Impala SS/Caprice (these parts should be readily available) or any suspension part from '77-'96 as they all generally interchange. You should check the caliper location on the spindles due to the two different bolt patterns used (5x5" or 5x4.75").
