wattup everybody I got an alpine head unit sitting unused in my room. I want to install it in my 2000 civic sedan ex. All that I have is the head unit and nothing else, on the back it has four wires that say front out and rear out, with red/white connections, what are these for?
other then that I need to know what exactly I need in order to install this head unit in my car?
p.s. in regards to any items that I need can you explain what I will have to do with each item? or is it all plug n play?
many thanks

The red/white connectors are for the RCA's if you want to install an amp. You should have a wire harness that came with the deck. You need to go to a store and get an adapter for your car. Splice the proper wires (should come with instructions) together, tape the connections up, and plug one end into your deck and the other end into the harness that hooked up to your factory stereo. Then I think you might need a install kit that has the trim piece in it. I'm not sure since I don't own a Civic. Someone else might be able to tell you for sure. Thats about it. Just take out the old and put in the new with the harness adapter. Be sure to plug in your antenna lead too. Go to www.installdr.com for in depth instructions
Good Luck! :)

Yup... That's pretty much it! Btw, splice the head unit wires not your car's... kinda easier that way... ;)

I bought the harness and adaptor and plugged it all in without changing anything from it,
I installed and hooked up the new deck and it works..
but i have noticed a lot of heat coming from it? is that normal?
I was playing it really loud at a high volume and for a like more then an hour?
thanks and let me know
