first problem was heating coil defect; second -car would not crank when it was cold - problem ignition switch defect; third, calaytic converter stopped up, car lost power - was first thought to be transmission, and last but not least the engine started tapping would not stop, had checked by two mechanics - engine light did not come on, car did not not smoke, finally, i had to have engine replaced - is there anyone else that has had this many problems - i either got a lemon or this car just is one that sucks!!!!

Sorry to say...you just got a lemon. I ve got a 95 MC 3.4 and Ive had problems too. But this is my second one. The first one was perfect, nothing wrong at all. I lucked up that time and this time, I got a car that needs more work. I think these are good cars but if you got one used and the previous owner didnt take care of it, you will most likely have problems. Sorry kimmie.

my 00 SS just turned 72,000 yesturday and to be honest the only $$$ ive put into it is $35 for a surpintine belt, and oil changes and the belt didnt really need to be replaced i just did it so this summer when im horsing on it i dont have to worry bout that breaking, i am also going to do a tune up cause my gas milage has dropped about 3mpg thats about it so i would have to say the car u got is a big lemmon as much as i hate to say that about a monte.

I have to agree. Previous owners quite often ignore regular maintenance because they never keep cars very long. Oil changes are one thing. I doubt the average car owner gets the fuel system treatment once a year. Also, tranny flushes every 20k or so are a good idea...ask your friends, I bet they don't do those things. If the fluids are flushed at the proper intervals that will eliminate some issues. As far as yours go...sounds like the boys on the production line were all hungover...maybe they went to hard at the superbowl party the night before? The issues you mentioned sound very uncommon. Makes me think I should get a newer one from the dealership to take advantage of the warranty.

I got my 2001 SS 3 years ago with 34k miles. Before driving 2 weeks I had to have a pressure sensor replaced in the transmission. The tires were worn out by 40k miles. Brake problems before 70k. Right front wheel hub repair before 80k. Excessive tire wear at 100k (I bought really nice Michelins at 40k). Instrument panel lights don't work at night. Knocking sound when turning, I was told this was a known defect in the steering column.

Wow, sounds like a Dodge!!??! Did the dealership cover any of those, aside from tires which we can all wear out fast!! My 97 didn't even have thos types of problems.
