'98 Taurus Advice Please

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a 1998 taurus with 135,000 miles on it and I'm kind of scared about it but really need an affordable car a.s.a.p. Can someone please tell me what I should look for when having it checked out and what are the most likely things to go wrong on this car with this mileage???

if the taurus has an AX4S transmission, be very wary of transmission failure. Do not buy a taurus with that sort of mileage unless they can provide documentation of a replaced or rebuilt transmission or if you pay less than $1000 and can afford $2000 to have the transmission replaced at any given time.
