Before I took delivery of my used 2000 the detail shop shampooed the carpets and got them *real* wet and two days later the air bag light came on due to a moist module located under the carpet at the front left of the front passenger seat. You have to take the seat out to get to it and the dealer paid for it. GM dealer can pull up error codes and tell if that's what the problem is or what else could be making the light come on. Must be a chronic problem because when the Tech pulled the error code he asked me if I had spilled anything in the front or got the carpet wet in front.
The light was on when I first looked at mine and was something to do with the tensioner, they agreed to fix it and did. Then a couple days later the wet module made it come on again and they fixed it again. Understand, the carpet was so wet it was ridiculious and I don't understand why they had to wet it that much. Dried out nice and no foul, musky odor.
I know this doesn't explain why your ABS light is coming on when it's wet, but it appears the moisture is the problem. DUH? For GM to pull up error codes the light has to be on because in some cases it won't "store" error codes, or at least, it didn't on mine. When your ABS light comes on go immediately to Mr Goodwrench and ask them to pull the error codes and it will show what is wrong.
