99 S-10 Blazer.

My tailgate glass will not open either with the inside release or the outside release. I hear it trying but it doesn't work. I've read that I can insert a screwdriver from the inside and pop it open to replace the accuator. I've tried several times at no evail. Am I doing it wrong or is there another way.

Thank you.

Pull back on the panel enough to expose the mechanism, and push down here:

You may find it easier with an "L" shaped allen key rather than a screwdriver. A few tries and you will get it. Then do some searching on the threads here and you will find that most have fixed it with tie straps.

Mine did the same thing and I fixed it with a piece of safety wire. Much better than the piece of crap plastic that was there.

Thank you guys for your help. I found it easier with the screw driver. All I did was run the screwdriver against the top part of the lever and it lifted up the part where the hook would go. Then I used another screwdrive and stuck it into the hole and popped the glass. I fixed it with a paper clip. We'll see how long it works. It looks like they knew that the pieces would break because they made the plastic piece removable. You can probable buy the plastic piece somewhere. Hell who cares it's fixed now!!!!!!!!
