ASE Electrical Test T6 (Practice Questions)

Hello fellow auto enthusiasts, I'm currently attending a Diesel/Heavy Duty Equipment tech school.
I'm getting ready to certify by taking a reputible electrical test and thought I would see if anyone was interstested a practice thread for this test.
I will add a few questions each day and give the answers and the reasons on the following day.
By show of hands, who is intersted in preparing for this exam with me? Serious people only who actually want to learn and take the exam. Either now or later. Thanks for checking out my post and lets keep this thread clean.

It's a little early to post the answers so I'll just put up some more questions and hopefully get a few of you to participate.

C. In seriew with the circuit being tested.
D. In parallel with the circuit being tested.

while i'm not going to take the ASE tests i can't pass up a good quiz. maybe it will prompt a few more responses as well.

D while it is best to use a DMM on circuits with active electronics, when performing voltage measurements an analogue volt meter is a passive device. however, do not use the continuity or resistance measurement setting of an analogue multimeter to measure continuity or resistance on a circuit that employs active componets for fear of dammaging the circuit or erraneous readings. analogue multimeters supply a higher voltage and amperage to the circuit being tested which could bias power transistors and FET's into a conductive state or possibly dammage the surface mount variety, and most IC's don't take well to over voltage conditions.

3. Answer B is correct because although a person could use an ammeter to check continuity, it is very impractical to do so. The other three choices are much better tools for checking continuity. An ammeter is used primarily to check for the amount of current flow.
4. Answer A is wrong because a DMM cannot generate anywhere near 30 amps of current when using the ohmmeter function.
Answer B is wrong because if a circuit breaker of fuse is good, the ohmmeter should show a very low reading (near zero), no infinity, which would indicate an open circuit.
Answer D is correct cause both technicians are wrong.

You may want to check with ASE before using their name and test designation on a public forum. They are very jealous about thier proprietary rights.
P.S. Amperage Flow is a function of continuity. What circuit being tested and what the symptoms are determine the tool used for diagnosing the problem. If this is a test question, it should be noted that not all of their questions relate entirely to the real world.

I'm not using any material or questions that are from ASE. I simply wanted a place to keep me motivated to study and make sure I pass the exam, hopefully find a study partner or two. If any members feel I am infringing on their proprietary rights, I would surely like to hear about it and I will end this topic or at least edit the title.
