Sensor Hell!

Can anyone tell me if I can replace the oil level, coolant level, and wheel speed sensors myself. In addition, can you replace the wheel sensor without replacing the steering knuckle?

Sorry man I just saw your post. To answer the question Yes you can change all these sensors yourself. You didn't say what year but the wheel sensor may be part of the hub assembly and you may have to change the entire assembly to replace the sensor. You will need some basic hand tools and you will need a torque wrench that reads 200 foot pounds it this is a front wheel sensor as you will need to remove the axle nut. You will not have to remove the knuckle to get this replaced. Just make sure to use a new axle nut when replacing the hub. Good Luck!!!

Yes it is the Knuckle that the sensor is on....btw, it an 02 intrigue. I replaced the knuckle which was cracked where the control arm connects with one from the junk yard. My question is I still have the old knuckle. Is there someway to take the working one on the original knuckle and put it on the good one?

Also I have a knock in the front right that gets worse in low rpm high torque situations and changes with the steering as well. Isn't that probably the half shaft?

What does bubbles in on the tranny dipstick mean?

Yes it should come off and you should be able to change it to the new one just work with it and it should come off. As for the noise the half shaft is going bad and will probably need to be replaced. That is why you are hearing the noise under acceleration. Before yo change it make sure you don't have a bad tie rod end or a bad bushing somewhere. As for the bubbles in the oil if they are clear it is usually caused by air. If they are white or creamy it means there is water getting into the oil.

Finally, if you don't have one you may want to purchase a Chiltons or other shop manual to help you out. It will show you how to do the majority of the jobs you are going to be tackling. Good Luck!
