Replacement of the PCS solenoid and labor runs around $500 at tranny shops not the dealer. Try AAMCO or similar and have them give you a quote.

AAMCO probally tell you need to overhaul it  Take it to a few shops check local prices. I think we get a $400 a PCS. Whats your tranny doing?

Lol. So true. They tried that on me but all I walked out of there with was a 8 ounce bottle of AAMCO labeled Lugegard. Best $10.00 I ever spent. It fixed the sticky PCS solenoid problem. Sea Foam is another good product.

What do you have to lose at this point in time.

have you ever had an issue with the PCS with lubegard added or has it completly cleared the problem?

This was three years ago but in my case the Lubegard cleared the problem which was harsh upshifts and a P1811 DTC error code. It took two treatments. When the first bottle was put in I noticed an immediate improvement in shifting. I ran it for about 1000 miles and added a second bottle. Ran a scan and the error code was gone. Since then the ATF and screen filter has been replaced at least twice, however, I always add 8 ounces of Lubegard. Also, I put in an aftermarket tranny pan with a little extra capacity, cooling fins and drain plug.

Of course not everyone will have success stories with tranny additives. If the PCS has excessive wear and the grooving even an additive won't help that and replacement will be required.

Yea excessive wear a additive wont help. I wish GM would have made the new PCS 04' and newer work for the older ones.

But just in case I won't hesitate to get the Trans Go kit and replace all of the solenoids to boot. Hopefully that won't happen but you never know.

You should weigh in more on tranny problems since you are a Tranny Tech. I get tired of responding to most of them but someone has to.
