Please, if you do call them, don't waste there time with trivial questions. They are trying to run a business, not field questions for dreamers.;)

I emailed them and I promise to post their response for everyone so we don't bombard them with the same thing.

Cool super 96 accord,

I had e-mail them a while ago and never got a response, so I figured I would wait until I had my GT-R in hand before I tried to contact them again.

Well no response yet. But one thing to think about or at least look in to would be that I think when you bring a car over, you only get a short time frame in order to comply the car or you have to ship it back. Or demolish it (like our beloved yellow car that's giving us all nightmares). I have been heavily looking into importing the car myself and what I've found so far is you can get a couple 10 day passes to get the car to/from the conversion places and that's it. So you should really have everything squared away before you bring the car over. Just something to think about.

Well, they wrote back :( Maybe we all do need to write them and let them know we want it.

Thank you for your interest in Wallace Environmental Testing Laboratories,
Inc. I regret to inform you that WETL is not pursuing the importation of
the Skyline at this time.

Thank you,

Key words are "AT THIS TIME". That would rock.

Ok, guys I say we bombbard them with e-mails then. I guess if we show enough interest and they realize they can actually make a profit off of it. It might get their ball rolling a lot faster.

Actually I had sent an email to a importer in Tacoma WA and got the same response:( More detail, but same end resort. I say we e-mail all of them

"Thank you for contacting me for your import needs. Unfortunately, I can

not help you with the Nissan Skyline. As far as I understand, Motorex
in Torrence, CA 310-224-5085 are the only ones that can help you. I
have also heard through the grapevine, however, that they are having
some problems in getting them certified with the US government.
Spacifics, I don't know, but I thought you should be aware.

Let me know if there is any other car that I might be able to help you
with. The easier cars are on the Vehicle Eligibility list on the
nhtsa web site. EPA is usually a problem though. EPA options: Does

the car have a label in the engine compartment that says
that it was built to meet US EPA emission standards?? If not, you will

need a letter from the manufacturer corp offices (not just a dealer )
certifying that it does. If no letter, it needs to be tested and
certified by an Independant Comercial Importer who are licensed by the
EPA. I am only licensed by the NHTSA, not the EPA. We are
associated with a company in New York that is EPA licensed. The EPA fee

is approx $5000.00 plus modifications. The main items needed are
an OBD2 computer system and a catalytic converter.

Good Luck.

I recently e-mailed Wallace about importing my GT-R to the States when I leave Japan. I let them know I was aware of Motorex so far being the only RI (Registered Importer) capable of importing a GT-R legally in the U.S. I then asked them could they possibly import a Skyline themselves or is Motorex the only possible way. Here is what the told me...
"
In direct answer to your question of can we do it, yes. We would have to
purchase proprietary crash test data from Motorex or crash test this model
ourselves. The reason we are not pursuing these importations is the
substantial demand for Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Jaguar and Ferrari vehicles,
that do not require such an outlay of funding or crash testing."

Well, there it is. I guess if Motorex would sell their propriety data to another RI or the RI crash test the car themselves, then another RI could import a skyline. Possibly for less than Motorex is charging ($16,000 to $25,000!).
:(

igor@af

That's why I'm sure MotoRex wont sell them the data :)

Now this makes me wonder:confused: Why:confused: these European models don't have to be "Anal probed" like the Skyline?! or is that how all the Japanese models are treated?

At first I thought how the parent company of those cars were Amercain, but then I see the German cars so that theory don't fly?!

I only have guess's here, does anyone know for a fact why these cars don't get the full treatment?

Cuz the rich get special treatment.
